It is interesting timing to be talking about former IU star Cody Zeller.  Over seven years ago he committed to play for Tom Crean and the Hoosiers in what was viewed at the time as game-changer for the program.  And it was, at least for a little while.  Fast forward to today, and we are about a…

We are just over a week away from one of the most anticipated recruiting decisions in the history of Indiana basketball.  It is at least as big as the Cody Zeller decision.  The similarities to the Zeller decision are striking, with an entire fan base clinging to the decision of an in-state star to turn around the state’s signature program. Somehow Romeo Langford’s decision between Indiana, Kansas and Vanderbilt feels even bigger.  We’re not sure if its his exciting style of play, his pursuit of the all-time scoring record, or the way he engages with the fans, but the attention…

The 2017-18 NBA season has ended for five of the eight former Indiana Hoosiers that registered statistics in the league this year.  Today marks the fourth in a series of more in depth reviews of their respective seasons as we discuss former Hoosier high flyer Troy Williams. Troy Williams arrived in Bloomington from Hampton, Virginia for the 2013-14 season.  With a reputation as a great athlete that could attack the basket, Williams found a role immediately with the Hoosiers.  While erratic at times, especially early in his IU career, Williams improved each year and by his junior season he became a more reliable veteran.…

The news was eye-catching when it appeared on Twitter.  After going in-home and visiting 5-star Trendon Watford on April 7, Archie Miller and the other members of his IU staff were going back less than two weeks later. While not completely unheard of, this was a pretty unique occurrence.  The spring recruiting windows are tight.  There was just a four day window in early April and then just four more days in mid-April for coaches and players to get organized and squeeze in all of the visits they were targeting. As far as we know, Indiana was the only school…

We didn’t know Noah Vonleh long, but he certainly made an impact during his one year with Indiana.  While the 2013-14 season wasn’t a memorable year for the IU program, Vonleh certainly made his mark.  He averaged 11.3 points, 9.0 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks while shooting 52% from the field overall and 48.5% from distance. Ultimately, Vonleh…

The Big Ten has released the home and away opponents for each of the 14 members of the Big Ten Conference.  The conference schedule expands to 20 games starting with the 2018-19 season, with each team playing seven teams both home and away and six teams only once. Indiana will play Nebraska, Ohio State and Wisconsin only once at home, and Maryland, Minnesota and Penn State only once on the road.  The results are mixed for Indiana.  They caught a break by only having to face Ohio State and Wisconsin once at home, while they will have to face likely…

Want to be a college basketball coach?  Hope you like to travel.  A lot.  The Indiana coaching staff has been all over the midwest and south over the last two weeks as they look to formulate the class of 2019 and put the finishing touches on 2018. Below is a list of the at least 13 visits that we are aware of, including at least 8 trips out of state.  Almost all of these journeys included head coach Archie Miller, along with other members of the coaching staff.  The lone exception as it relates to Miller’s attendance might have been…

The 2017-18 NBA season has ended for five of the eight former Indiana Hoosiers that registered statistics in the league this year.  Today marks the second in a series of more in depth reviews of their respective seasons.  Today we discuss former Hoosier big man Thomas Bryant. It was about this time of year in 2015 when Thomas Bryant committed live on ESPN to play for Indiana.  A lot has transpired for Bryant and the Hoosiers since then, including an outright Big Ten title, a coaching change, and an early exit to the NBA in 2017. While some have speculated that Bryant…
