Indiana University’s Archie Miller said recently that there are no days off as a Division 1 college basketball coach. If you have followed Miller’s travels across the state of Indiana and beyond during the month of March, you know he isn’t kidding. On what seems to be a daily basis, the leader of the IU program and his staff are seen somewhere watching someone play. And there is good reason for that — the Hoosiers have holes to fill, including in the upcoming class of 2018. As we mentioned in our recap of the top off-season questions, there could be…

Romeo, Romeo, Romeo. It is all anyone wants to talk about, and we are as guilty as anyone else. But truth be told, even with one-and-done Romeo Langford, the 2018-19 Indiana Hoosiers probably won’t be an elite team without one-more-and-done Juwan Morgan. Morgan, who earned 2nd team All-Big Ten honors, is the only proven commodity at the forward position slated to be on next year’s team. Sure, De’Ron Davis should be back from injury, but although the roster says he is a forward, he plays the game like a center. Justin Smith is clearly an emerging star, but he isn’t…
Indiana University class of 2018 recruiting target Romeo Langford is in Atlanta for the McDonald’s All-American game and related events this week. He sat down with Eric Bossi of Rivals to discuss his high school career, the McDonald’s game and to give his views on the Indiana, Kansas and Vanderbilt programs. It should come as no surprise, but one clear thing that Langford appears to be focused on when evaluating his final three options is how they can best prepare him for the NBA. Langford will most likely play only one season at the college level before entering the NBA…
The dynamic duo reigns supreme once again. Two of the greatest players in the history of the Indiana University women’s basketball program apparently don’t want their college playing careers to come to an end. Sparked by a dominant effort from seniors Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill on Sunday afternoon, the Hoosiers knocked out UC Davis 81-66 and advanced to the Women’s NIT Final Four. Buss, who is IU’s all-time scoring leader and also leads the Hoosiers in a number of other career statistical categories, continued to add to her totals. On the day she poured in 30 points to go with 7…
The Indiana University men’s swimming and diving program finished in 3rd place overall at the NCAA Championships in Minneapolis, good for their best finish in 43 years. On the individual level, Ian Finnerty won national titles in both the 100 and 200 breaststroke, and Michael Hixon won the national title in the 1-meter dive competition. Additionally, the 400 medley relay team of Gabriel Fantoni, Ian Finnerty, Vini Lanza and Blake Pieroni won the national title. You can read our original preview and daily updates below. DAILY UPDATES (NCAA CHAMPIONS IN BOLD) Saturday Here are the final team standings at the NCAA…
After an early end to a disappointing 2017-18 season, it is the biggest Indiana University men’s basketball story going. With an announcement not expected until mid to late April, the anticipation and excitement regarding the college choice of New Albany, Indiana product and IU recruiting target Romeo Langford is reaching mass (Hoosier) hysteria. Langford is dealing with his own disappointment, as the New Albany Bulldogs lost in the semi-state round of the Indiana boys high school basketball tournament to Warren Central, ending their pursuit of a second title in 3 years. For Langford, it was the end to an electrifying…
We couldn’t help but notice something strange when the Women’s NCAA Tournament Committee released its “last 8 under consideration” a couple weeks ago. Despite sweeping the home and home series with Purdue, and having a higher RPI and strength of schedule than the Boilers, Indiana was left out of the “last 8” while Purdue was included. For two teams that clearly had similar NCAA tournament profiles, the season sweep should have been enough to put the Hoosiers ahead of Purdue. Indiana controlled both games and was clearly the better of the two teams this year. The NCAA oversight felt like…
The Indiana Hoosiers (19-14) host the Purdue Boilermaker (20-13) on Thursday night in the Sweet 16 round of the Women’s NIT. The game will tip-off at 7:00 PM EST at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in Bloomington. You can view the official WNIT bracket here. The Hoosiers and Boilermakers will play for the third time this season. For the first time since 1984-85, IU swept the season series with wins on January 6 in Bloomington (72-54) and February 12 at West Lafayette (52-44). Indiana will have a chance to do something it has never done before — complete a three game…
It has been a long and winding journey for Ryan Taylor. From Crown Point High School to Michigan City High School to St. John’s Northwestern Military Academy to Ohio University to the University of Evansville. That was just over the last 6 years — and the adventure is about to take a new turn as Taylor has announced his intent to transfer from Evansville. Evansville’s media guide lists the 6-6, 195 lb Taylor’s hometown as Gary, Indiana. We’d suggest that perhaps Taylor is still searching for a place to call home. Like everyone playing high level college basketball, Taylor is plotting…
The Indiana University women’s basketball team won their 2nd round NIT contest against Milwaukee by a score of 74-54 and will now face arch-rival Purdue for the third time this season in the Sweet 16 round. The Hoosiers used an explosive 2nd quarter that included a 17-0 run to run out to a 42-24 halftime lead. The game was never really in doubt after that. Indiana improved to 19-14 on the season and they have now won 11 out of their last 13 games. IU got a balanced attack on the day with five different players in double figures. Senior…
