The inside-out in-state initiative carries on as IU hosted Class of 2019 Indianapolis native Armaan Franklin for an unofficial visit on Thursday. Some members of the Indiana baseball team have gone from the disappointment of a season ending loss to Texas on Sunday night to the thrill of being drafted by a Major League Baseball team within a matter of days. Coming into the 2018 draft, 90 Hoosiers had been selected by a MLB team all-time. Chicago Cub Kyle Schwarber is the earliest selected Hoosier ever in the draft. It was already going to be one of the better Indiana University football quarterback competitions to watch in recent memory. Back in the early spring you had the presumed front runner Peyton Ramsey being pushed by true freshman Michael Penix. After advancing earlier in the day with a 9-7 win over Texas A&M, the Hoosiers came up short against the host Texas Longhorns. The final score was Texas 3, Indiana 2. Hoosier starter Andrew Saalfrank gave IU a strong outing, going 5 and a third, giving up 6 hits and 2 earned runs. The sophomore lefthander struck out eight. The Indiana Hoosiers have survived and advanced in the NCAA Tournament once again. This time the Hoosiers were able to get redemption against Texas A&M, who had defeated Indiana 10-3 on Friday. Indiana returned the favor by a score of 9-7, eliminating the Aggies in the process. The Hoosiers exploded out of the gates with a 9 run top of the 1st against Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon. IU accumulated 8 hits including 2 home runs, and added 2 walks as they sent 13 batters to the plate in the monster inning. It looked like IU might cruise to victory. …
