-Updated with NIT information below- The Indiana University women’s basketball team received disappointing news on Monday night as it did not receive an at large bid to the NCAA tournament field. If there is a silver lining it would be that Indiana fans may get additional opportunities to watch beloved seniors Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill play home games. Indiana’s record is 17-14 overall and it finished 9-7 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers were considered a bubble team for the NCAA tournament. The Hoosiers got off to an 8-12 start to the 2017-18 season before rallying with an 8…

The Indianapolis Star is reporting that Indiana University class of 2018 recruiting target Romeo Langford will announce his college decision between April 13 and April 30. Langford’s final three schools are Indiana, Kansas and Vanderbilt. The New Albany High School senior guard is the top-ranked uncommitted recruit in the country. The mid to late April timing appears to be based on Langford’s busy schedule over the next month, which includes: The IHSAA tournament, which continues for the next one to two weeks. The McDonald’s All-American game is on March 28. The Jordan Brand Classic is on April 8. The Nike…
As a wise Hoosier once sang, “…take it slow and things will be just fine, you and I’ll just use a little patience….take the time ’cause the lights are shining bright, you and I’ve got what it takes to make it.” Do Archie Miller and Indiana have “what it takes to make it”? Only time will tell, but therein lies the difficulty. Will Indiana give him enough time to truly find out? In today’s instant gratification, social media driven society, who knows. Let us be clear, we don’t suspect that Indiana is anywhere near an impasse with Miller. It sounds…
The Indiana University men’s basketball team did not receive an invite to the National Invitational Tournament on Sunday night. Head coach Archie Miller has previously stated that the team will not play in any other post season play beyond the NIT or NCAA tournaments. As we had previously described, the Hoosiers were considered a long shot to receive an at-large bid to the NIT field. With that, the Hoosiers’ season is officially over. Indiana finished the year at 16-15 overall and 9-9 in Big Ten play. IU finished in sixth place in the Big Ten and lost their first Big…
Quick. Name the bubble teams that were left out of last year’s NIT. Name anyone that was even IN the NIT other than Indiana and Georgia Tech. Most of you have got nothing. We’re right there with you. You have to wonder why the Not Invited Tournament takes itself so seriously. Sure you could put Wagner and Arkansas Pine Bluff in the giant losers bracket that is today’s NIT. You could analyze the RPI and strength of schedule until you are blue in the face and make sure you have it just right. Yep, you could do all that. Or you…
Indiana University basketball recruiting target Romeo Langford played two regional games on Saturday as New Albany won both games and rolled on to the semi-state round of the Indiana state high school basketball tournament. The Bulldogs improved to 25-1 on the season and they have now won 22 games in a row. New Albany will now face undefeated Warren Central (30-0). According to the IHSAA’s website, that game will be played at 3:00 ET next Saturday afternoon. The Warriors dominated Terre Haute South 83-48 to advance to the semistate. In the first game, New Albany handled Bloomington South by a…
Twenty years. It had been twenty years since Indiana last won an outright Big Ten title. Since then the Hoosiers had seen four different head coaches including the firing of the legendary Bob Knight. The program had fallen into complete ruin under Kelvin Sampson and suffered through three years of hell as Tom Crean attempted to resurrect it. Twenty years meant that the players on the 2012-13 Indiana Hoosiers were either not yet born or still in diapers in 1993 when IU mowed through the competition with a 17-1 Big Ten record. Needless to say, it had been a while.…
At 5-9 and 160 pounds, Archie Miller was never going to strike fear in the hearts of his opponents with his size. But give him an inch from behind the 3-point line, and suddenly, opposing teams were horrified. As the son of a high school basketball coach, Archie Miller grew up in a gym. As we’ve seen with Hoosier legends such as Steve Alford and Jordan Hulls, if you spend enough time in a gym as a kid — you can learn how to shoot the rock. When you watch video of him playing (which you can do below), two…
Spring practice started for the Indiana University football team on March 3rd. It was a running joke all throughout my time at IU from 1991 to 1995 and beyond. I’ll never forget the first time I laid eyes on the Hoosiers’ former home ballpark — Sembower Field. As a freshman living at the Paul V. McNutt Quad (himself a former IU baseball player prior to becoming the Indiana governor), I went months without realizing that IU’s baseball stadium was literally across the street. I had to walk by it every day to head towards campus and yet I never noticed it. The hilltop location was apparently just enough to obscure it from…
