Romeo Langford scored 34 points on Friday night as the New Albany Bulldogs (7-1) beat Pike 61-55.  New Albany won their 33rd straight home game in front of another sellout crowd. While it is an uphill battle to reach Damon Bailey at the top, Langford is on a historic journey through the Indiana boys high school basketball all-time scoring list.  We’ll continue to monitor his progress along the way.  Bailey is the current all-time scoring leader at 3,134 points.  Langford appears likely to pass a couple other IU greats soon:  Alan Henderson and James Blackmon, Jr. Below we have charted…

The 2017 Indiana University football season didn’t end how Hoosier fans hoped.  At 5-7 IU missed an opportunity to be bowl eligible for the third straight year, gave the Old Oaken Bucket back to Purdue, and failed to “break through” under new Head Coach Tom Allen.  The season was not a complete loss however, and with a better than normal 2018 recruiting class and many players returning next year, especially on offense, there is reason to be cautiously optimistic.  The 2018 schedule even let’s up a little as well, although the usual B1G East suspects are still there of course.…

The Indiana University women’s basketball team begins Big Ten play at home against Michigan State on Thursday, December 28.  The game will tipoff at 7 p.m. at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.  Indiana native (Seymour) Teri Moren is in her fourth season leading the Hoosier women’s basketball team in 2017-18. Coming into the season the main question for the Hoosiers was who from the supporting cast would step up and be the key contributors behind senior leaders Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill.  Most predictions had the Hoosiers as a middle of the pack team in the Big Ten conference.  If the…

As you have likely heard by now, legendary broadcaster and Indiana University alumnus Dick Enberg passed away yesterday at the age of 82.  Perhaps best known for his signature “Oh my!” expression, Enberg received masters and doctorate degrees in health sciences from IU.  While at Indiana, Enberg voiced the first radio broadcast of the Little 500 and he was also the play-by-play announcer for IU football and basketball games. Enberg called some of IU’s most memorable basketball moments including the 1976 and 1981 national championship games and the 2002 tournament run.  As a tribute to the Hoosier legend, we’ve compiled…

The typical post-game press conference is often littered with clichés and lacking in helpful insights or candid remarks.  That wasn’t the case after Thursday’s 87-59 Indiana win over Tennessee Tech.  In response to questions about Indiana’s approach to practice coming out of an embarrassing 92-72 home loss to Fort Wayne on Monday, Archie Miller provided some specific details on what practice has been like since then. Some of the more colorful comments included acting like a “raving lunatic” yelling at practice, telling players that they need to be alpha dogs, and placing a greater emphasis on challenging people.  All of…

Let’s face it.  Anything was going to feel better than a 92-72 home court loss to Fort Wayne.  In our game preview we talked about the need for this IU team to find an identity.  If an identity is emerging coming out of this 87-59 win over Tennessee Tech, then it looks like it is on the defensive end.  Given the composition of this roster and based on what we’ve seen to date from the offense, it would seem that defense would have to be the answer.  Identities aren’t formed in one game however.  After an 8 day break Indiana…

Indiana football fans know by now that sustained success can be a challenge.  So it should come as no surprise that only one day after the Hoosiers had a solid day on the recruiting front they were dealt some bad news.  Today it comes in the form of losing two of their more prominent wide receivers. SIMMIE COBBS TO THE NFL Simmie Cobbs has decided to pass on his final year of eligibility at IU and has declared for the NFL draft. Cobbs went public with the decision via Twitter on Thursday: During 2015 Cobbs caught 60 passes for 1,035…

We could write an article about Tennessee Tech and Youngstown State.  We could but you wouldn’t read it.  No offense to Indiana’s last two opponents before they resume B1G conference play, but they are just the next mid-majors on the schedule. Don’t get us wrong.  Indiana should not be taking the next two games lightly.  After Fort Wayne and Indiana State, are you kidding?  And don’t think for a second that Tennessee Tech and Youngstown State haven’t heard about Fort Wayne and Indiana State.  And don’t think that they aren’t coming to Bloomington seeking their own 15 minutes of fame. …

By any reasonable measure Wednesday was a successful day for the Indiana University football team in connection with the recruiting early signing period.  Collectively, as of this writing the Hoosiers have received signed national letters of intent from 23 players, including all 21 who had previously committed to IU and 2 new additions that were not previously committed.  The headliners for Indiana’s class are QB Michael Penix (pictured) from Tampa and RB Ronnie Walker from Virginia.  Both have received 4-star ratings from some services and are 3-stars based on the 247 composite. On a national basis the Hoosiers are currently…
