Romeo Langford scored 34 points on Friday night as the New Albany Bulldogs (7-1) beat Pike 61-55. New Albany won their 33rd straight home game in front of another sellout crowd. While it is an uphill battle to reach Damon Bailey at the top, Langford is on a historic journey through the Indiana boys high school basketball all-time scoring list. The 2017 Indiana University football season didn’t end how Hoosier fans hoped. At 5-7 IU missed an opportunity to be bowl eligible for the third straight year, gave the Old Oaken Bucket back to Purdue, and failed to “break through” under new Head Coach Tom Allen. The season was not a complete loss however, and with a better than normal 2018 recruiting class and many players returning next year, especially on offense, there is reason to be cautiously optimistic. The Indiana University women’s basketball team begins Big Ten play at home against Michigan State on Thursday, December 28. The game will tipoff at 7 p.m. at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. Indiana native (Seymour) Teri Moren is in her fourth season leading the Hoosier women’s basketball team in 2017-18. As you have likely heard by now, legendary broadcaster and Indiana University alumnus Dick Enberg passed away yesterday at the age of 82. Perhaps best known for his signature “Oh my!” expression, Enberg received masters and doctorate degrees in health sciences from IU. While at Indiana, Enberg voiced the first radio broadcast of the Little 500 and he was also the play-by-play announcer for IU football and basketball games. By any reasonable measure Wednesday was a successful day for the Indiana University football team in connection with the recruiting early signing period. Collectively, as of this writing the Hoosiers have received signed national letters of intent from 23 players, including all 21 who had previously committed to IU and 2 new additions that were not previously committed.
