Well, here is a list we didn’t expect to be updating again so soon.  Make that two entrants from the 2017-2018 season.  First a few notes: The Indiana State loss had been the only loss on the list to a non-Power 5 school.  Now the Fort Wayne loss makes it 2 of the top 4 to non-Power 5 schools.  There really isn’t another loss to a non-Power 5 school that is close to making this list. Numbers 1 and 2 on the list were during the Tom Crean rebuild era.  6 of the 12 games on the list are from…

The Scott Curse lives on.  Of course it did.  Bryson Scott is now 5-0 against Indiana.  Throw in his brother Brenton’s Indiana State win back in November and the brothers are collectively 6-0 against the Hoosiers.  And about that Indiana State game.  While tonight’s match up was closer for a while than the November blowout, it followed the same script and ended up at about the same margin.  The Indiana State loss was the 3rd worst ever at Assembly Hall.  This Fort Wayne loss is the 4th.  Both IU losses are simply inexplicable.  Neither Indiana State nor Fort Wayne are…

Game notes:  The Indiana Hoosiers (6-5) host the Fort Wayne Mastodons (7-5) at 8 PM on Monday night at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.  The game will be broadcast on BTN.  Fort Wayne is 1-5 on the road this year.  Indiana is 5-2 at home.  The programs will meet for the third straight season.  IU won in Bloomington, 90-65 in 2015 and the Mastodons defeated Indiana 71-68 in OT in Fort Wayne last season.  Indiana was ranked #3 coming into last year’s meeting.  These Scott brothers.  They are everywhere.  Purdue, Fort Wayne, Indiana State.  It seems like they’ve been playing since…

The math just got a lot harder for Indiana recruiting target Romeo Langford’s pursuit of Indiana high school boys all-time scoring leader and former IU star Damon Bailey.  Langford averaged 24 a game in New Albany’s two games over the weekend, pushing the bar higher on what it will take to catch Bailey. Nevertheless, Langford is still on a historic journey through the Indiana boys high school basketball all-time scoring list.  We’ll continue to monitor his progress along the way.  Bailey is the current all-time scoring leader at 3,134 points.  Langford appears likely to pass a couple other IU greats…

Indiana and Notre Dame shot faked the game’s turning point a few times.  First it was Notre Dame, on back-to-back-to-back 3-pointers in the first half by Nikola Djogo, John Mooney and TJ Gibbs as they turned a 19-14 ND lead into 28-14, and the Hoosiers appeared to be in trouble.  Indiana responded however through the end of the first half and into the second half, cutting the Irish lead to 31-30.  Notre Dame immediately proceeded to stretch the lead right back out to 44-31 with 16:50 to go.  Surely that would be it for an Indiana team that was struggling…

You have to love the fight in this Indiana team.  They may not be a great shooting team but they certainly battle.  And it was that grit and determination that helped Indiana pull out an 80-77 overtime win in a game that it felt like they’d lose on multiple occasions.  Indiana overcame double digit deficits in both the first and second halves but still struggled to capture the lead until the very end of regulation.  Time will tell if this was a program transforming win or just a nice effort today, but for the first time in a while this…

The Indiana Hoosiers (5-5) and the 18th ranked Notre Dame Fighting Irish (8-2) travel to Indianapolis for a Saturday afternoon contest at Bankers Life Fieldhouse.  The game will tip-off at 2:30 and it will be broadcast on Fox.  In a series that dates back to 1908, this will be the 72nd meeting between the two storied programs, with Indiana winning 49 of the previous 71 contests.  On Wednesday we took a look back at some of the more memorable Indiana wins over Notre Dame. Notre Dame Head Coach Mike Brey is in his 23rd overall season as a head coach…

In case you haven’t noticed, the Indiana University football team’s 2018 recruiting class is a respectable 39th nationally according to 247sports.com.  This ranking is fluid and based on verbal commitments.  If you’ve paid attention to college football recruiting in recent years, you know that last minute changes of heart by recruits are not uncommon.  In fact, IU is currently still in discussions with a few players in the 2018 class, and just got a RB to flip his commitment from Rutgers to Indiana. We should have more clarity in just a few days.  The college football recruiting landscape has changed,…
