The Indiana University women’s basketball team won their 2nd round NIT contest against Milwaukee by a score of 74-54 and will now face arch-rival Purdue for the third time this season in the Sweet 16 round. The Hoosiers used an explosive 2nd quarter that included a 17-0 run to run out to a 42-24 halftime lead.  The game was never really in doubt after that.  Indiana improved to 19-14 on the season and they have now won 11 out of their last 13 games. It is mid-March and the Indiana University men’s basketball team has been in offseason mode for two weeks now.  Okay, technically only a week, since they officially learned that they did not receive an invite to the NIT last Sunday night.  But unofficially we all knew that the Hoosiers were done. The 2018 NCAA women’s swimming and diving championships concluded on Saturday night in Columbus, Ohio. Indiana finished in 8th place overall with 169 points, marking the program’s third straight top 10 finish at the NCAA Championships.  Lilly King won two NCAA titles (100 and 200 breast) at the meet, giving her six career NCAA titles, the most ever in Big Ten history. The Indiana University women’s basketball team defeated Tennessee Martin on Thursday night by a score of 74-50 to advance to the second round of the National Invitational Tournament. The Hoosiers got a glimpse of a future next season without stars Tyra Buss and Amanda Cahill, as freshman phenom Jaelynn Penn led the way with a career high of 25 points.  She added 6 rebounds, 3 assists and 2 steals.
