If you follow Indiana’s class of 2019 college basketball recruiting targets closely like we do, you’ve noticed some positive noise this week around Keion Brooks, Jr. as it relates to Indiana.  That’s the good news. First, the Rivals national team of Eric Bossi, Corey Evans, Dan McDonald, and Krysten Peek made predictions earlier this week on a number of 2019 prospects, including Brooks.  Bossi, Evans and Peek all see Brooks landing in Bloomington.  McDonald gives the edge to Michigan State. It was no secret.  Despite a thunderous start, Tom Crean lost his way recruiting within the borders of Indiana. According to Jon Rothstein of CBS Sports, Indiana will start a home-and-home series with Arkansas beginning with the upcoming 2018-19 season.    Based on the report, the series will begin in Arkansas this season and then move to Indiana for the 2019-20 season. https://twitter.com/JonRothstein/status/1014231357395013632 The game is part of a four-game exempt event called the Hardwood Showcase.  Indiana will reportedly play UT Arlington, UC Davis and Montana State at home as a part of the event. The Rivals recruiting service has updated its class of 2019 college basketball recruiting player rankings today. The top overall ranked Indiana target is Hopkins, Minnesota native Matthew Hurt in 5th place nationally.  La Lumiere’s Isaiah Stewart comes in right behind him in 6th place. D.J. Carton, who completed an official visit to Indiana this past weekend, was the only Hoosier target to move up to five-star status.  The Bettendorf, Iowa point guard moved up 13 positions. It didn’t take long for former Indiana center Thomas Bryant to find a new home.  After being released over the weekend by Los Angeles, Bryant was picked up off waivers by the Washington Wizards today. https://twitter.com/WashWizards/status/1013924242377895941 Bryant appeared in 15 games this past season for the Lakers.  He averaged 1.5 points and 1.1 rebounds in limited minutes. It is something that folks in and around Marion, Indiana already know — Jalen Blackmon is a name to watch in the college basketball recruiting class of 2021. Of course, Indiana University basketball fans already know the Blackmon name quite well.
