After receiving a commitment from Romeo Langford on Monday night, Indiana is down to one remaining open scholarship on its 2018-19 roster. With the top class of 2018 high school kids committed elsewhere, the logical move to fill this spot (if they fill it at all) is the graduate transfer market. Enter Evan Fitzner, a 6’10”, 230 pound redshirt senior to-be from St. Mary’s. It has been an interesting career thus far for the San Diego native. He played his most minutes during his freshman year (2015-16), where he averaged 23.4 minutes, 8.7 points and 4.4 rebounds. He shot 41%…

(Updated to include the addition of St. Mary’s graduate transfer Evan Fitzner) This is going to be a long six months. With the buzz surrounding the commitment of 5-star Romeo Langford still fresh, a lot of folks are justifiably looking forward to the 2018-19 season and wondering what is possible. In the crazy world of college basketball, predictions are difficult in March, let alone May. But if Indiana clears one last hurdle and Juwan Morgan decides to return for his senior year, IU fans should start feeling optimistic. It could even get better than that, with one open scholarship remaining…
Admittedly, it sounded a little cliche when he said back in April of 2017. It may have even been the same or similar to an expression used by Tom Crean when he was hired. It is common sense when you think about. As the head coach at Indiana University, recruiting starts in-state, and the failure to do so may have been what got Tom Crean fired. This is what Archie Miller said last year on the topic: “And they must feel like they are being dominated by Indiana University”. “If we want them, we should have a great chance of…
With the commitment of Romeo Langford on Monday night, Indiana secured its first McDonald’s All-American since Thomas Bryant played in the game in 2015. Langford becomes the 30th all-time McDonald’s All-American to commit to play for the Hoosiers since the event started in 1977. The Hoosiers had two players on that inaugural team. You can see the complete list of former Hoosier McDonald’s All-Americans below. 2018 – ROMEO LANGFORD 2015 – THOMAS BRYANT 2014 – JAMES BLACKMON, JR. 2013 – NOAH VONLEH 2012 – YOGI FERRELL 2011 – CODY ZELLER 2007 – ERIC GORDON 2004 – D.J. Fans lined up for hours outside of New Albany High School. By the time 7:00 struck, several thousand fans were packed inside the nearly full 4,100 seat gymnasium to hear one of the most anticipated college basketball recruiting announcements in recent memory. Would it be Indiana, Kansas or Vanderbilt? After opening remarks by New Albany Head Coach Jim Shannon, the family Reverend, and Tim Langford, along with some videos, it was time for Romeo Langford to speak. As a soft spoken young man of few words, you just knew it wouldn’t take long for Romeo to make the announcement. Romeo…
It is finally here. After years of speculation, multiple perceived favorites and a long list that was ultimately narrowed down to three, tonight we will all learn which college Romeo Langford will attend. Surely you all know by now that the final decision comes down to Indiana, Kansas and Vanderbilt. Langford, a 5-star shooting guard from New Albany, Indiana, is the highest rated player that remains uncommitted at this time. He won the state of Indiana’s Mr. Basketball award last night, and with that, he has no additional all-star games or awards ceremonies standing in the way of the decision.…
It should come as no surprise that Indiana University basketball recruiting target Romeo Langford has won the state of Indiana’s Mr. Basketball award signifying the top player for 2018. Langford is fourth on the Indiana high school boys basketball all-time scoring list with 3,002 points. He averaged 35.5 points per game as a senior, along with 9.9 rebounds, 3.7 assists and three steals. https://twitter.com/indyhsscores/status/990752158457921537 Yes, @KyleNeddenriep asked him about his shoes. pic.twitter.com/VmhLtsX3Ep — IndyStar HS Scores (@indyhsscores) April 30, 2018 video via — IndyStar HS Scores (@indyhsscores) According to the Indianapolis Star, Langford was named on 264 of the 294 ballots submitted…
Okay, not exactly the same. Perhaps the reaction could justifiably range from the applause when a guy makes a putt for bogey and someone making an eagle to win the Masters. Perhaps an audible gasp or moan prior to that courteous clap might even involuntarily slip out given the surprise and disappointment. Admittedly, it won’t be easy to generate a thunderous roar if Romeo Langford announces “Vanderbilt” or “Kansas” rather than Indiana. But if you can bring yourself to drive to New Albany and boo an 18 year old that wants to share his college decision with his community then…
The 2018 NFL Draft has come to an end with two former Indiana University football players hearing their names called. Tight end Ian Thomas was selected in the 4th round by Carolina and linebacker Chris Covington was selected by Dallas in the 6th round. There is no doubt that the results will be viewed as disappointing for some former Hoosiers, but their prospects for the future remain the same. Whether drafted or signed as undrafted free agents, several IU stars will have an opportunity to make an NFL roster this summer. We summarize the former Hoosiers that have been signed…
