It was already going to be one of the better Indiana University football quarterback competitions to watch in recent memory. Back in the early spring you had the presumed front runner Peyton Ramsey being pushed by true freshman Michael Penix. Others were lurking in the shadows like Nick Tronti, Johnny Pabst, and of course 2017 Indiana Mr. Football Reese Taylor. And then Brandon Dawkins happened, and the dominoes started falling. Indiana announced that Dawkins was going to transfer to IU as a graduate with one year of immediate eligibility remaining back on April 10, just days before the annual Cream…

The 2017-18 NBA season has ended for all of the eight former Indiana Hoosiers that registered statistics in the league this year. Today marks the eighth in a series of more in depth reviews of their respective seasons as we discuss former Hoosier one and done sensation Eric Gordon. Everything about Eric Gordon’s brief tenure with Indiana, from his commitment on through to the end of his freshman season, was high profile. Gordon first verbally committed to Illinois in November of 2005 before having a change of heart and signing on with Indiana in October of 2006. In the intervening months, IU hired new…
The Indiana University baseball team’s 2018 season has come to an end at the Austin Regional of the NCAA Tournament. After advancing earlier in the day with a 9-7 win over Texas A&M, the Hoosiers came up short against the host Texas Longhorns. The final score was Texas 3, Indiana 2. Hoosier starter Andrew Saalfrank gave IU a strong outing, going 5 and a third, giving up 6 hits and 2 earned runs. The sophomore lefthander struck out eight. The IU bullpen combination of Tommy Sommer and Cal Krueger was strong as well, giving up just 1 run. Krueger pitched…
The Indiana Hoosiers have survived and advanced in the NCAA Tournament once again. This time the Hoosiers were able to get redemption against Texas A&M, who had defeated Indiana 10-3 on Friday. Indiana returned the favor by a score of 9-7, eliminating the Aggies in the process. The Hoosiers exploded out of the gates with a 9 run top of the 1st against Texas A&M on Sunday afternoon. IU accumulated 8 hits including 2 home runs, and added 2 walks as they sent 13 batters to the plate in the monster inning. It looked like IU might cruise to victory. …

If you’ve ever wondered how the Big Ten/ACC Challenge men’s college basketball match-ups are determined, the pairings for 2018 should leave little doubt. Despite Duke finishing 2nd in the ACC, and Indiana 6th in the Big Ten last season, the teams will meet in the event for the third time in the last four years. If the teams are not matched up based on their prior season conference standings, there seems to be only one other possibility — TV ratings. It is hard to blame the television networks. You might as well pair up the biggest names and create marquee,…
Indiana starting pitcher Pauly Milto has had a knack for delivering dominant starts for the Hoosiers at critical junctures during the 2018 season. There was no more critical juncture than a NCAA Tournament elimination game for Indiana, and their ace came through once again. With the season hanging in the balance, Milto threw his second complete game shutout of the season, compiling a career high 11 strikeouts in the process. The complete game against Texas Southern was critical for an Indiana bullpen that was forced into extensive action on Friday and potentially has a long day in front of it…
They say if you want to know how people really feel about something, follow the money. If that’s right, Hoosier basketball fans may have another reason to feel optimistic about the 2018-19 season. Sports betting website Bovada released updated odds for the 2019 NCAA Tournament on Friday. On April 3 the Hoosiers were “Off the Board” according to the betting service, likely because there were too many unknowns. Today, the odds on IU winning a national championship are 40-1. While those may sound like long odds, and they are, 40-1 is good for a tie for 16th nationally. That’s a significant improvement…
Updated below with information on Saturday’s game. It started out as a pitchers duel and turned into a rout. After three scoreless innings, Texas A&M broke through in the 4th with 7 runs, and the rest was a mere formality. The Aggies took the opening game of the Austin Regional of the NCAA baseball tournament over Indiana by a score of 10-3. After back to back singles by the Aggies to lead off the 4th, IU starter Jonathan Stiever nearly escaped. He got the next two batters out before Texas A&M erupted for seven 2-out runs. By the time they…
Perspective. It is something that can be in short supply in the mind of a 22 year old. Full of self-righteous swagger, and light on the experience to back it up, we often let our emotions rule the day. When I learned that former IU head football coach Bill Mallory had passed away, a flood of thoughts and memories came to mind. I am sure that many of you have had a similar experience over the last week. Big wins over Michigan and Ohio State, a man that stood by IU even after he was fired, and passion and energy…
