Several former Hoosiers have been spotted back in Indiana over the last few days. As the 2024-25 team continues their summer program, former players Trayce Jackson-Davis, Jalen Hood-Schifino, Miller Kopp, Race Thompson and Nate Childress have all been back in Bloomington for workouts. Jackson-Davis and Kopp were also both involved with a fundraiser golf outing in French Lick related to IU’s NIL efforts. Defensive line hasn’t always been a strength for Indiana, and that’s probably describing things generously. Very often, competing in the Big Ten is about being competitive in the trenches, and a spring transfer out of the program by 2023 starter Philip Blidi had things looking bleak for the Hoosiers up front. Aaron Casey’s tribute to IU football legend George Taliaferro will continue Tuesday when he takes the field at the Bengals mini-camp wearing No. 44. Casey, who signed as a free agent with Cincinnati following the 2024 NFL Draft, was chosen by the IU staff prior to the 2022 season to wear No. 44 in honor of Taliaferro, who passed in 2018. Often referred to as the “Jackie Robinson of the NFL”, Taliaferro was the first African-American drafted into the NFL. The Chicago Bears took him with their 13th round pick in 1949. Indiana women’s basketball is among the finalists for class of 2025 5-star guard Aubrey Beckham. The 5-foot-11 Georgia product has scheduled official visits to five schools over the next month, including IU June 25-27, DuShawn London of 247Sports is reporting. From Dacula, Ga. (Hebron Christian Academy), Beckham is ranked the No. 30 player in the 2025 class according to the  HoopGurlz espnW100. Georgia, Florida, Auburn and Florida State are also in line to get official visits from Beckham over the next month.  She has not announced a decision timeline to this point. Class of 2025 linebacker Travares Daniels announced on Monday evening he is no longer verbally committed to Indiana. Daniels also said his recruitment is closed. It’s no secret the IU football program had some work to do this offseason to enhance their facilities. In an era when raising cash earmarked for players is every bit as significant if not more, finding money for facilities is a bigger challenge than ever.
