If you believe that the first half of the Seton Hall game was a sign that Indiana head coach Archie Miller is starting to get through to his new team, then you should feel good about Indiana’s upcoming schedule. Well, the next three games anyway. Over the next 10 days, the Hoosiers have three consecutive home games against teams it should beat. Yes, we are obligated to add emphasis to the word “should”, since we know what happened against Indiana State, and we know that the Sycamores are 0-2 since that game. Coach Miller gave us clues about why you…

The IU football team has had some frustrating games this year. Against Michigan and Michigan State the defense was good but the offense was stagnant. Against Maryland the offense was good but the defense fell apart. Against Ohio State and Wisconsin the Hoosiers competed for nearly 3 full quarters before falling apart. Penn State was pretty ugly, but even that game, once Indiana survived the initial onslaught they hung in pretty well. The final scores don’t always reflect it, but Indiana competed in all six of its losses this year. The one common denominator was the inability to “put it…
Indiana Head Coach Archie Miller gave a press conference on Friday afternoon at Cook Hall to preview Sunday’s home game against South Florida. Several responses he gave to questions shed light on why it takes time for a group of players to acclimate to the system of a new coach: Stated That Time Was Needed to Process What Occurred in Real Game Action Coach Miller attributed the glimmer of progress that was apparent in the first half against Seton Hall to having time to sit down with the team and digest the first two games after a busy weekend. After…
The Indiana Hoosiers (4-6, overall, 1-6 B1G) host the Rutgers Scarlet Knights (4-6 overall, 3-4 B1G) for a noon kickoff at Memorial Stadium in Bloomington. The game is Indiana’s Senior Day and will be televised on BTN. Indiana ended a 4 game losing streak with a 24-14 win at Illinois last Saturday. Indiana has 2 games remaining and must win both (@Purdue next week) to achieve its 3rd straight .500 season and ensure bowl eligibility. Indiana has active winning streaks against each of Rutgers (1) and Purdue (4). Meet the Scarlet Knights Rutgers has lost two of its last 3…
— The Daily Hoosier, November 17, 2017 — The Archie Miller era at Indiana didn’t exactly start how Indiana fans hoped it would. The reality is that coaching changes can take a while to “stick”. It is not uncommon for things to get worse before they get better. Even for the great ones. Coach K’s first three years at Duke resulted in a 38-47 record and no NCAA tournament appearances. He probably would have been fired after year three in today’s environment. Indiana fans always have high expectations, but most are likely resigned to the fact that with significant roster…
As we described in the Report Card, Wednesday’s game against Seton Hall had a different feel to it. For a while anyway, the Hoosiers looked more confident and they played with more of a fighting spirit. Ultimately it wasn’t enough, as they lost to the Pirates 84-68. So what flipped the script, from a game that Indiana led briefly in the second half to a game that the Hoosiers would at one point fall behind by 20? We take a look. The First Half Rally and an Early 2nd Half Lead. After trailing 27-18 at the 6:54 mark, Indiana clawed…
There were distinct moments in the first half of Indiana’s game against Seton Hall on Wednesday night when Hoosier fans likely first thought “Here we go again”, and then later “Hey, what’s this”. The here we go again moments were when Indiana fell behind 10-2 at the outset, and then 27-18 at just under the 7:00 mark. IU responded to both of those moments, perhaps to the surprise of Hoosier Nation, narrowing the early lead to 12-11, and then actually taking a momentary lead right before halftime. It was those moments where people just might have seen a glimmer of…
Think having the most prestigious program in the country and playing the most popular sport in the world means that the Indiana men’s soccer team is “Hoosiers” in name only? Think again. The roster is loaded with players that went to Indiana high schools. In case you needed one more reason to rally around the institution that is Indiana men’s soccer as it prepares to commence its quest for a 9th national title, take note of the following Hoosiers playing for the Hoosiers: 2 – Jordan Kleyn, Defender, Plainfield, IN (Avon High School) 6 – Jack Griffith, Midfielder/Defender, Danville, IN…
Despite only playing at Indiana for one season (and what an interesting season it was), Eric Gordon has made it clear from time to time that he is a strong supporter of Indiana basketball. Hoosier fans will always appreciate the 2007-08 season (has it really been 10 years!) for the brief moment that we felt like we had an elite program again. No one was more important to the success of that season than Eric Gordon. Who can ever forget the insanity that was the road game at Illinois, and his miraculous bank shot 3-pointer that forced the game into…
If Hoosier fans had a wish list for the 2017-18 season, one thing that would likely rank high on that list would be the health of Juwan Morgan and Collin Hartman. We documented Hartman’s rollercoaster ride, which has added a new twist already this season with a groin injury that has forced him to miss the first two games and possibly more. Morgan has battled the injury bug during his time at Indiana as well: Freshman year – A shoulder injury that flared up during several games and ultimately resulted in post-season surgery. Sophomore year – A foot injury on…
