Things are moving fast as Indiana continues to develop its roster for 2024 and beyond. Here are some notable developments from the last week from both the high school and transfer portal ranks. AN INDIANA ELITE THREESOME VISIT? The Indiana Elite 17u team might be the best on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit this year. They’ve started the spring 13-0, including 9-0 in Adidas games. Three of IU’s main priority targets in the 2025 class play for that Indiana Elite squad — center Malachi Moreno, forward Trent Sisley, and shooting guard Braylon Mullins.  All three are off to hot starts this…

The 2024 IU football season is going to be a bit like the immovable force vs. the unstoppable object. New head coach Curt Cignetti has never had a losing season, while Indiana has had, well, plenty. So far, oddsmakers are giving a slight nod to the less than glamorous history of the Hoosiers. DraftKings Sportsbook has pegged the over/under win total for IU’s 2024 regular season at five.  Gamblers need to bet $120 to win $100 on a bet IU will have more than five wins, and they’ll win $100 for every $100 bet on the Hoosiers winning less than…

According to a report by Talia Goodman of On3, Marian University is set to hire Pat Knight as their next head basketball coach. Pat Knight is a former IU basketball player and of course the son of the late legendary Indiana coach Bob Knight. The Director of Athletics at Marian is former IU player Steve Downing, who helped lead Bob Knight’s 1973 team to the Final Four. Downing was named that season’s Big Ten MVP after averaging 20.1 points and 10.6 rebounds. The 53-year-old Pat will leave his position as a scout for the Indiana Pacers. The hire could bring…

With the extra year of college eligibility largely filtering out of the system next year, the high school class of 2025 will take on greater significance.  A lot of teams are going to have a lot of roster openings. And Indiana should be one of them. So as the recruiting focus starts to shift away from the transfer portal this spring and now towards the rising high school seniors, we’ll be watching to see if Indiana can maintain its recent run of recruiting momentum. Last week we told you Indiana is expected to get an official visit from Pennsylvania-based 5-star…

Down 4-1 in the top of the ninth Sunday in West Lafayette, IU baseball staged a dramatic rally to claim a road series over Purdue and maintain serious momentum heading into the homestretch of the regular season. The Hoosiers have now won five Big Ten series in a row, and they’re winners of 11 of their last 14 games in the league overall. After a sluggish start to the 2024 season, Indiana now sits in a three-way tie for second place in the Big Ten at 12-6, just a game behind first place Illinois.  IU is 27-19 overall on the…

As we’ve seen now on several occasions during the 2024 transfer portal season, when national outlets start making predictions for Indiana, things have turned out well for the Hoosiers. On Sunday evening, 247Sports national analyst Travis Branham made a prediction for Bellarmine center Langdon Hatton to land at IU.  Branham and others accurately called the Myles Rice, Kanaan Carlyle, Oumar Ballo and Luke Goode recruitments for Indiana before they announced their decisions. Indiana has two open scholarships on its 2024-25 roster, and Hatton, a Georgetown, Ind. product, would clearly fill a need. The 6-foot-10 and 240-pound Hatton started all 31…

UMass transfer linebacker Nahji Logan announced he has committed to IU on his social media accounts. The Yeadon, Pa. product was in Bloomington for a visit last week. Logan was named to the College Football Network All-Independent Defense Team (Second Team – LB) in 2023. He competed in all 12 games for the Minutemen, totaling a team-leading 60 tackles (30 solo, 30 assisted), four tackles for loss for 11 yards, 0.5 sack, one QB hurry and a pass breakup. The 6-foot-3 and 230-pound Logan played four seasons at UMass, including a 2020 Covid season in which he saw action in…

That Micah Nori now has a prominent role on the Minnesota Timberwolves bench for the remainder of their 2024 NBA Playoffs run is a bit of an unlikely story. After a collision with Timberwolves guard Michael Conley last week led to head coach Chris Finch suffering a ruptured tendon, Nori has taken over many of the duties typically handled by the head coach — roaming the sideline, instructing the team, running huddles and making adjustments on the fly. But how Nori ever ended up as a lead assistant on an NBA staff is even more improbable. For the longest time,…

James Madison transfer return man and running back Solomon Vanhorse announced he has committed to IU while on a visit to Bloomington Saturday. Vanhorse had spent his entire career in Harrisonburg, joining the program in 2018.  The 5-foot-8 and 183-pound Vanhorse was featured in the JMU spring game before he entered the portal. An Alpharetta, Ga. product, Vanhorse was supposed to finish his eligibility last season, but he appeared in just one game before suffering a season-ending injury and gaining a medical waiver from the NCAA. As a redshirt freshman in 2019, Vanhorse rushed for a career-high 382 yards and…

To the surprise of no one, former Indiana center Kel’el Ware received an invite to the 2024 NBA Draft Combine.
