Indiana women’s basketball has made an addition to at least in part address the void left by Mackenzie Holmes. 6-foot-3 Tennessee transfer forward Karoline Striplin announced on Thursday morning she is transferring to IU. “Karoline is a tough post player who can score inside and out while also establishing herself as a great post defender,” IU coach Teri Moren said in a release.  “She is a player who we’ve faced a couple of times and have been familiar with since high school, so we know her skill set and work ethic will be the perfect fit for us. We are…

Yes, it is definitely still way too early to look at preseason rankings for the 2024-25 college basketball season. But it does seem like a useful exercise to compare what we think we see happening in Bloomington against the national perspective. Since Indiana added Myles Rice, Kanaan Carlyle, Oumar Ballo and Bryson Tucker over the last few weeks, at least four national outlets have said the Hoosiers are a top-20 team next season. Although the transfer portal closes next week, rosters are still very much in a state of flux. And that includes Indiana, as they are still looking to…

The transfer portal opened back up this month, and a new wave of IU football defections has continued into this week. Based on our offseason roster tracker, IU football has seen 40 players — nearly half of all those on scholarship — leave the program with remaining eligibility since the end of the 2023 season. Of course the change at the top has played in role in the overhaul as new head coach Curt Cignetti looks to put his stamp on the program. Running back David Holloman and offensive lineman Bubba Jeffries are the most recent players to enter the…

We’ve seen this story play out multiple times this month. Each of Myles Rice, Kanaan Carlyle and Oumar Ballo received Indiana predictions from respected national analysts ahead of their Bloomington visits.  And then each announced their commitment to IU during or shortly after those visits. Illinois transfer wing Luke Goode announced on Monday he was entering the transfer portal. And already a national analyst has said Goode is likely to end up at Indiana. Here’s what On3’s Jamie Shaw wrote on Tuesday: “A source close to the recruitment has suggested watching for the Hoosiers in this one (Goode’s recruitment),” Shaw…

With a break from transfer portal visitors, the IU staff is wasting no time turning its attention towards a very talented in-state class of 2025. They’ve got a very full day planned on Tuesday. IU basketball head coach Mike Woodson and all three of his assistants will visit each of Trent Sisley, Braylon Mullins and Jalen Haralson today, a source confirms to The Daily Hoosier. Hailing from Heritage Hills H.S. in southern Indiana, Sisley is a consensus 4-star forward and the No. 86 overall player in the 2025 class according to the On3 Industry Average. Mullins, a spring and summer…

A well known IU legacy athlete has entered the transfer portal. Illinois reserve wing Luke Goode is looking for a new home, according to multiple reports. Goode is the son of former IU football wide receiver Craig Goode, and the nephew of former Hoosiers star quarterback Trent Green.  Another uncle, Curt Goode, also played football for IU. The 6-foot-7 Goode enters the portal with three years of Big Ten experience under his belt. In 20.1 minutes per game in 2023-24, Goode averaged 5.7 points and 3.6 rebounds per contest for the Illini.  His shooting splits were 45.5% from two, 38.9%…

Former Indiana forward Kaleb Banks has found a new home. The 6-foot-8 Banks announced on Sunday he is headed to Tulane where he’ll join head coach Ron Hunter.  The Green Wave had a disappointing 14-17 season in 2023-24. The Georgia product averaged 2.6 points and shot 39.2 percent from the field as a sophomore at IU. He was one of Indiana’s key players in a win over Louisville with eight rebounds, three blocks and three steals. And he added a 12-point, five rebound effort in a win over Kennesaw State in late December. His role significantly declined over the course…

Indiana’s top-ranked portal haul won’t include Connor Essegian or Ryan Conwell. Essegian announced on Sunday he’ll stay in the Big Ten, as the Indiana native is transferring from Wisconsin to Nebraska.  Essegian took a visit to Indiana last week and Nebraska was his next stop. Meanwhile another Indiana native, Conwell announced on Friday he’s headed from Indiana State to Xavier.  Although he was highly coveted, the Hoosiers did not appear to gain serious traction with Conwell.  That might have been influenced at least in part by guard commitments that were secured early. So far Indiana gained transfer portal commitments from…

Florida Gulf Coast transfer wing Zach Anderson is on the IU campus on Sunday, he reported on his Instagram page. Anderson finds himself in friendly confines.  He scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds while making 5-of-7 from three at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall in November. The 6-foot-7 Anderson was named Third-Team All-Atlantic Sun Conference in March. Anderson, a native of Apopka, Fla., averaged 12.8 points on the season. He connected on 48.2 percent of his shots including 45.9 percent from three (on 111 attempts). He scored in double-figures in 13 of 16 games against Atlantic Sun competition, including a…

If there was one thing that clearly broke Indiana’s 2023-24 season, it was faulty roster construction. For whatever the reasons, Mike Woodson and his staff failed to land big-time guard talent in the transfer portal last spring, and that mishap, along with the injuries suffered by Xavier Johnson, haunted them throughout the year on both ends of the floor. It seems clear lessons were learned. The Hoosiers wasted no time, even skipping the NIT, to jump in the transfer portal with two feet. With significant financial tailwinds in the name, image and likeness era, Indiana has attacked the offseason with…
