Indiana will have a familiar face on campus later this week. Minnesota transfer forward Pharrel Payne will visit Bloomington late this week according to Darren Wolfson of 5 News in Minnesota. The 6-foot-9, 255-pound sophomore played in 32 games, with 19 starts, for the Golden Gophers this season. He averaged 10.0 points 6.1 rebounds, and 1.4 blocks.  He shot 60.2% from the field and 47.2% from the free throw line.  Payne is not a three-point shooter. Indiana won’t be facing John Calipari when their series with Kentucky resumes in 2025. Multiple reports have Calipari leaving Lexington to take the opening at Arkansas. On Sunday, ESPN’s Pete Thamel reported Arkansas is signing Calipari to a five-year deal to be the Razorbacks’ next head coach. Calipari is coming off a disappointing postseason. Kentucky fell in its opening matchup against Texas A&M in the SEC Tournament. The Wildcats then lost to No. 14 seed Oakland in the first round of the NCAA Tournament. Indiana’s Teri Moren said thanks but no thanks to one of the top jobs in college basketball. According to a report by women’s college basketball writer Mitchell Northam, Moren was pursued by Tennessee to become their new head coach but rejected those overtures. When he heads to IU in just over a week, Bradley transfer guard Connor Hickman won’t need a map. The Bloomington, Ind. native confirmed with The Daily Hoosier he will visit Indiana on April 14.  That news was first reported by the 247Sports Indiana site. Golden State is rounding into NBA Playoff form. So is rookie forward Trayce Jackson-Davis. The former IU consensus All-American registered a career-high 20 points (8-10 FG, 4-4 FT), five rebounds, four assists, one block and one steal across 28 minutes during Thursday’s 133-110 victory over the Rockets. In just over 20 months, the long dormant Indiana vs. Kentucky basketball series will resume. The Hoosiers and Wildcats have agreed to play four games beginning in 2025.
