Indiana has suffered a second season-ending injury along the interior of the offensive line. Starting guard Drew Evans is out for the rest of the 2024 campaign, the IU football program posted on its X account. “The Indiana Football program announced on Saturday (Nov. 8) that redshirt sophomore offensive lineman Drew Evans will miss the remainder of the 2024 season due to an Achilles injury suffered during a practice this week,” Indiana stated. Indiana offered 7-foot class of 2026 center Gan-Erdene Solongo on Friday. Originally from Mongolia, Solongo only started playing basketball three years ago.  He currently attends Ensworth H.S. in Nashville, Tenn. after moving from Michigan. Solongo does not appear in the rankings for the 2026 class, but his profile is expanding rapidly. For travel basketball he played for Wildcats Select on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit.  He has teamed both in high school and AAU with fellow IU 2026 target Jonathan Sanderson. Twice Julian Lewis has reportedly scheduled visits to Indiana over the last month. And twice now it appears those visits won’t happen. The class of 2025 quarterback from Georgia had a visit scheduled for Indiana’s 56-7 win over Nebraska a few weeks ago but cancelled. Multiple national outlets reported he was coming for this weekend’s game against Michigan, but now that has apparently been cancelled as well. Indiana quarterback Kurtis Rourke revealed on Saturday he endured more than just an injury to his thumbnail during the first half against Nebraska a few weeks ago. If Rourke continues to play at a high level, and he leads the 9-0 Hoosiers to the College Football Playoff, some of the credit needs to go to his hand surgeon. Season 125 is underway.  And Indiana quickly learned it has a long way to go if it wants to live up to the high expectations surrounding Mike Woodson’s fourth season. BLOOMINGTON, Ind. — Indiana opened the 2024-25 season with an 80-61 win over SIU Edwardsville at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Wednesday evening. The Hoosiers led 42-30 at halftime.  They were led in the game by Mackenzie Mgbako with a career-high 31 points.  Malik Reneau and Oumar Ballo both added 15. Indiana guard Kanaan Carlyle does not carry an injury designation going into Indiana’s season opener on Wednesday. Carlyle missed the last exhibition against Marian with bruised ribs, an injury he suffered in the first exhibition at Tennessee. The 6-foot-3 Carlyle earned honorable mention All-Pac-12 Freshman Team honors in 2024 with Stanford. The guard from Atlanta averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds and 2.7 assists on the season, and 12.5 points per night in Pac-12 play. One player on the opposing bench might look familiar on Wednesday evening when Indiana tips off their 125th season in Bloomington. The game will serve as a homecoming of sorts for 6-foot-10 SIU Edwardsville forward Kyle Thomas.  He is the son of the late IU 1987 national champion Daryl Thomas.
