BLOOMINGTON – Has there ever been a time that Indiana is labeled as a football school? If not, it may be time to do so. With a crowd of over 53,000+ in attendance, Indiana cruised to a 56-7 dominant victory over Nebraska on Saturday to stay undefeated and remain at the top of the Big Ten. Although many thought the Cornhuskers would be the toughest opponent the Hoosiers would face so far this season, it certainly didn’t look that way. The Hoosiers got things going from the jump as they received the first-half kick, and looked like they hadn’t lost…

BLOOMINGTON – Quarterback Kurtis Rourke suffered a hand injury at the tail end of the first half of Indiana’s game against Nebraska on Saturday, and was ruled out for the second half. Rourke was seen getting treatment on his throwing hand after Indiana’s touchdown drive late in the second quarter to take a 28-7 lead over Nebraska at that time. Blood could be seen on his right thumb as he walked off the field. He appeared to hit his hand on a defender’s arm as he threw the football. Rourke returned for another drive before the conclusion of the half,…
EVANSTON, Ill. – In an away game that saw Indiana fans pack Northwestern’s temporary lakeside venue, the Hoosiers earned a 41-24 road trip victory against Northwestern on Saturday to move to 6-0 and clinch a bowl game appearance for the first time since 2020. The Hoosiers now sit atop the Big Ten after their victory over the Wildcats and are the first team in the conference to clinch a bowl appearance. Although the score shows another dominant effort by Indiana, it certainly didn’t feel that way. “Today, you know, we passed the test,” head coach Curt Cignetti said following the…
During the offseason, Indiana’s defense went through a lot of roster turnover that left many wondering how the group would look by week one. The only things to go off were players’ 2023 stats and any noteworthy team performances Defensive Coordinator Bryant Haines and JMU delivered last season. Fast forward to two weeks into the 2024 campaign, and Indiana’s defense looks like it could define the team’s performance for the rest of the season. Since the hire of Curt Cignetti and Haines choosing to follow, Indiana has marketed its team as one that plays fast, physical, and relentless. This is…
Even though Curt Cignetti has succeeded as a more offensive-minded coach, the Indiana Football staff sought a lot of talent in the transfer portal on both sides of the ball. They were especially successful on the defensive side, with multiple incoming players earning accolades at their previous schools after highly productive seasons. Although players like D’Angelo Ponds, Aiden Fisher, and C.J. West are expected to have that same impact at Indiana, there are some depth pieces who could also find some success in the 2024 season. All of our breakout candidates below are not expected to be listed as No.…
Indiana had one of its more productive portal seasons with the introduction of Curt Cignetti as head coach, and with it brought tons of talent on both sides of the ball, along with retaining some key pieces. On offense especially, however, the Hoosiers are now equipped with a number of depth pieces that could provide an impact. Now heading into the fall camp period, it’s never too late for the football staff to find a diamond in the rough. Since no official depth chart has been revealed, we will give our best guess on players who may not start week…
The 2024 college football season opener is less than two months away, and even though it certainly may not feel like it now, the afternoon of August 31st is rapidly approaching to usher in the official start of the Cignetti era of Hoosier football. From a new head coach and a new-look roster to a plethora of new gameday experiences and a debut of fresh uniforms, the new era of Indiana football promises to be one full of interesting storylines. With that in mind, the intern makes his return to bring you some predictions heading into a pivotal season for…
For the second year in a row, Indiana will return a group of soccer alumni to Cary, N.C. to compete for $1 million dollars in “The Soccer Tournament”. Known as the soccer counterpart to the longer running TBT (The Basketball Tournament), the TST consists of 7-on-7 soccer matches on a much shorter field and with smaller goals. The TST follows the popular Elam Ending, similar to its basketball counterpart. Following the end of the second half, a target score is set by adding one goal to the leading team’s goal total at that time. The team to reach the target…
Indiana completed their first spring game since 2019 on Thursday night, with the Hoosier offense getting the “win” over the defense. Fans got their first chance to see a revamped roster under Curt Cignetti’s tenure, and many players had some standout performances. I tried my best keeping track of offensive stats and the depth chart, as stats were not officially noted. Without further ado, let’s give it a crack. Quarterback First – Kurtis Rourke Second – Tayven Jackson Third – Tyler Cherry This comes with little to no surprise, with Rourke transferring in for his final year of eligibility and…
If you know the history of Indiana football, then you know it has rarely been a program about winning. Across over 125 recorded seasons of football at Indiana University, only 29 of them have ended in a positive record. Indiana has only been to 13 bowl games, with three of those ending with a victory. Since 1959, Indiana has finished last in terms of conference record 19 times. In the 2022 season, the Hoosiers were recorded to be the first Division 1 program to record over 700 losses. So how do you respond? One answer: win. Curt Cignetti’s hiring was…
