BLOOMINGTON — After over a week since its last game, Indiana women’s basketball looked more rested than rusted. IU completely dominated Bellarmine on Sunday, running away with a 95-61 win at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The Hoosiers (8-3) pulled away quickly, with 27 points in the first quarter that put them ahead by 13 points. They went on to lead 54-30 at halftime, completing — perhaps — their strongest half of the season. Teri Moren’s squad kept rolling in the second half, but it was the first half that really set the tone. IU shot a whopping 67.7 percent from…

Indiana men’s basketball recovered from a slow start to Friday’s game at Nebraska, and hung in with the Cornhuskers for most of the contest. The Hoosiers trailed by just one point with 6:51 remaining in Lincoln. But that just set the table for a total collapse, as Nebraska closed the game on a 17-1 run from there. It rode that stretch to an 85-68 victory. Indiana (8-3, 1-1 Big Ten) had trouble on defense for much of the night, as Nebraska (7-2, 1-1) shot 61 percent from the field. IU defensive lapses helped the Huskers build their lead early in…
As Indiana football begins its latest foray into the transfer portal, it’s worth reviewing what happened last year. The Hoosiers — obviously, based on their strong 2024 season — picked up a lot of good players in the portal last offseason. But the team also lost a good number of players as well. Some went on to have successful years, others made less of an impact. Here’s a look at some of the players who left IU last year and how they performed at their new schools this season. Brendan Sorsby The quarterback had a solid season for Cincinnati. Sorsby…
Indiana men’s basketball will be down a player for extended time. Sophomore guard Gabe Cupps will be out indefinitely, the program announced Wednesday, after undergoing a successful surgery for a pre-existing, nagging lower body injury. Cupps is reporting on social media he had his meniscus repaired. Cupps has played in only four games for the Hoosiers so far this season, and he’s missed the last three contests. He averaged six minutes per game across those four appearances, and didn’t score a point on his four field-goal attempts. He last played four minutes during IU’s win over Providence in the Battle…
BLOOMINGTON — The beginning of Kanaan Carlyle’s Indiana career had been bumpy, to say the least. The Stanford transfer battled multiple injuries within the first six weeks of the season, and performed inconsistently when healthy. The latest injury, which remained unknown, kept him out for three games. But Carlyle returned to action on Monday, and he turned in his best game as a Hoosier thus far. He set season-highs with 14 points and five assists, along with three rebounds, while shooting 5 for 8 from the field and 3 for 6 from 3-point range. The sophomore was key in the…
The battle for Indiana is on. IU football, for the first time ever, is playing in the College Football Playoff. The Hoosiers (11-1, 8-1 Big Ten) are in as the No. 10 seed, in the new 12-team bracket, and will face No. 7 seed Notre Dame (11-1) in South Bend, Ind. on Friday, Dec. 20. Here’s a collection of statistics and figures that provide insight into Indiana’s opponent for the biggest game in program history. Notable team stats Notre Dame is one of the best teams in the country in terms of turnover margin. The Fighting Irish are tied for…
Indiana women’s basketball needed a big turnaround to pull out its win over Southern Indiana on Wednesday. But Saturday’s Big Ten opener was a different story. Instead of spending the second half coming back from a deficit, the Hoosiers spent it pulling away. They dominated Penn State after halftime and came away with a 75-60 victory at the Bryce Jordan Center in University Park, Pa. Indiana (7-3, 1-0 Big Ten) has now won seven consecutive conference openers. Here are three takeaways from IU’s strong performance. Offense dominant after first quarter Indiana shot just 25 percent from the field in the…
BLOOMINGTON — From the very beginning of Indiana’s game against Miami (OH), it was clear the RedHawks couldn’t stop Oumar Ballo. Ballo dished an assist on IU’s first offensive possession, and immediately followed it with a defensive rebound. The Arizona transfer had five rebounds within the game’s first three minutes, and finished the game with 18 — the second-highest total of his college career. He tacked on 14 points, on 5-of-6 shooting, and tied a career high with six assists. The center’s dominant night helped power the Hoosiers to a 76-57 win on Friday at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. “I’m…
BLOOMINGTON — Indiana football is waiting to learn its postseason fate, but the Hoosiers didn’t take a week off. IU officially signed 21 high school commits on Wednesday’s National Early Signing Day. Its class, on signing day, ranked No. 43 in the nation and 13th in the Big Ten on 247Sports. The Hoosiers added nine offensive players and 12 defensive players, and 14 of them will enroll early for spring football. Head coach Curt Cignetti met with local media on Wednesday to discuss the incoming class, his transfer portal plans, Indiana’s approach heading into a likely College Football Playoff game,…
BLOOMINGTON — Since Luke Goode began his IU men’s basketball career, he hadn’t been able to heat up. The Illinois transfer, billed as the sort of outside shooter Indiana needed, started 28.6 percent from 3-point range through the first seven games of this season. Fans, coaches, and teammates alike — and surely Goode himself — hoped that every triple he knocked down would be the one that got him going. But he just hadn’t found much consistency in his shots. That is, until Tuesday. Goode drilled a career-high five threes on seven attempts and scored 18 points — also a career-high.…
