BLOOMINGTON — IU football season is drawing ever-closer. Indiana completed its fourth practice of fall camp on Monday, as the Hoosiers build up to the start of the regular season. IU’s season-opener, the first game of the Curt Cignetti era, is on August 31 against Florida International at Memorial Stadium. Fall camp will run through the next three weeks, leading up to the first game week. Cignetti met with local media after Monday’s practice to talk about his team. Here are a few key things he discussed. Ponds living up to hype early One of Indiana’s biggest pickups from the…

Indiana closes the regular season, as usual, with the Old Oaken Bucket on the line against Purdue. Curt Cignetti will get his first taste of this rivalry at home, in what could be a decisive game for IU’s bowl hopes. Opponent: Purdue Date/Time/TV: Saturday, November 30, TBA Location: Memorial Stadium, Bloomington, Ind. 2023 record/postseason result: 4-8, 3-6 Big Ten Returning production, offense:…
In her final Olympic race, Lilly King struck gold. King swam the breaststroke leg of the 4×100-meter medley relay on Sunday in Paris, and she helped the United States win the gold medal and set a new world record in the event, at 3:49.63. The Indiana alum’s breaststroke leg helped the U.S. start to pull away from the rest of the field. This is King’s third Olympic gold medal, and sixth Olympic medal overall. The Evansville native has now won medals in all three Olympic Games she’s competed in. King also swam in two individual events in Paris, and qualified…
Indiana men’s basketball and Indiana women’s basketball announced on Friday their plans for Hoosier Hysteria 2024, which will have a different format than previous years. The event will take place at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall on Friday, Oct. 18, which is IU’s homecoming weekend. Indiana football hosts Nebraska the next day. The programs are placing a heavier emphasis on the scrimmages in Hoosier Hysteria this year than in past years. “Our program always looks forward to Hoosier Hysteria and are eager for our fans to get a sneak peek at the 2024-25 team,” IU head women’s basketball coach Teri Moren…
Indiana football is back on the field. The Hoosiers begin fall camp on Wednesday, kicking off their preseason with one month until the first game of the Curt Cignetti era in Bloomington. Cignetti’s fire and confidence have generated plenty of buzz and excitement for IU’s season, both inside and outside of the program. As camp gets going, here are two big questions worth watching. How will wide receiver shake out? Indiana’s wide receiver room is deep. The group that Cignetti and his staff assembled may be the deepest and most talented of any position on the team. Junior James Madison…
As Lilly King competes in her third and final Olympic Games, she has a chance to make history. King has no doubts that this will be her last Games, saying in June that she feels content with what she’s accomplished in swimming. But in this last go-around in Paris, she could join some exclusive clubs. She races in the 100-meter breaststroke final on Monday, and she could become the second swimmer and the first American to win three Olympic medals in the event. She’s already one of just six swimmers to win two Olympic medals in the event. If King…
INDIANAPOLIS — While Washington head coach Jedd Fisch answered questions from media on the main podium at Lucas Oil Stadium, Curt Cignetti gathered himself for his turn on stage. The lights were bright and the scene was big at Big Ten Media Days. Cignetti had a loaded day ahead of him with various interviews, press conferences, and other media work. And he capitalized on one of the fleeting free moments he had. As Fisch spoke, Cignetti paced around the turf behind the stage aimlessly, by himself. He seemed to use those few minutes to get in the right headspace to…
Big Ten Football Media Days began Tuesday in Indianapolis, as representatives from all 18 programs across the conference will appear and talk with media throughout the three-day event. Big Ten commissioner Tony Petitti kicked things off Tuesday by holding his own press conference, holding court on a number of different topics ahead of the start of a new athletic year in the conference. Here are some of the key topics Petitti discussed. Football scheduling Petitti addressed multiple questions about different aspects of the conference football schedule this year. The Big Ten is continuing its Friday night games that have become…
With college football season starting to creep up, we’re running down Indiana’s schedule to preview all 12 opponents for 2024. Curt Cignetti’s toughest road test of his first Big Ten slate doesn’t come until the penultimate game of the season, when IU takes on Ohio State. The Hoosiers kept things close with the Buckeyes in week one last season, but failed to capitalize on opportunities to put OSU on upset alert. Indiana will have a rest advantage for this game, coming off its second bye week of the season — Ohio State’s byes are in September and October. Opponent: Ohio…
