Tony Petitti was introduced as the Big Ten’s new commissioner on Friday at a press conference in Chicago. He takes over for Kevin Warren, who left the role to become president of the Chicago Bears on April 14. Petitti officially begins his tenure with the Big Ten on May 15. Petitti brings a wealth of experience in the sports industry to the conference. He worked in senior executive roles at CBS Sports, ABC Sports, and MLB Network, and then served as Deputy Commissioner and Chief Operating Officer at Major League Baseball from 2014 to 2020. Indiana football has landed tight end Bradley Archer from Stanford in the transfer portal. He spent his first four collegiate seasons with the Cardinal. He played in 11 of Stanford’s 12 games in both 2021 and 2022. Archer did not record a reception in 2022. Indiana football could see a few players selected in the NFL Draft this week. The draft begins on Thursday evening with the first round, followed by rounds 2-3 on Friday, and then rounds 4-7 on Saturday. The Hoosiers have several players in the draft, but it would be a surprise if any of them went before Saturday. IU has had one player picked in each of the last four drafts. After Indiana football’s season ended in late November, Peter Schulz took a few weeks off before beginning to prepare for something unlike anything he’d done before. Schulz was a walk-on offensive lineman for the Hoosiers from 2019-2022. He was never really put into the spotlight.
