BLOOMINGTON — It was a simple question, followed by a simple answer. “Why would you wait outside almost a full day for ESPN’s College GameDay?” “Why would I not?” “There’s quite literally nowhere else I’d rather be than be here right now.” For the biggest games of every IU men’s basketball season at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall, students will line up very early to get a good spot near the front of the student section. That’s a much rarer sight for Indiana football, but with its 7-0 start, everything about this program continues to change. IU junior Sam Foley drove…

With basketball season rapidly approaching, we’re going team-by-team in the Big Ten to assess where everyone stands and how things could shake out this year. Maryland enters this season looking to bounce back after a disappointing 2023-24 campaign. The Terrapins struggled throughout last season and finished with a losing overall record for only the second time in the last 31 years. Kevin Willard could be facing some pressure to turn things around in College Park this season. WHO’S GONE: Jahmir Young (20.4 PPG) Donta Scott (11.2 PPG) Jamie Kaiser Jr. (4.4 PPG) Noah Batchelor (1.7 PPG) Caelum Swanton-Rodger (1.5 PPG)…

Indiana women’s basketball has landed a commitment from class of 2026 guard Ashlinn James. She announced her decision on Instagram on Monday. The 5-foot-9 Louisville native is the first class of 2026 player to commit to Teri Moren’s program. The Hoosiers offered James a scholarship after she attended Hoosier Hysteria in 2023, and she took an unofficial visit to Bloomington in late August. Her offers included Miami (Fla.), Marquette, Saint Louis, Western Kentucky, North Carolina A&T, Murray State, and Bellarmine. Prep Girls Hoops has ranked James the No. 1 class of 2026 player in the state of Kentucky. James recently…

Indiana football keeps climbing up the polls. The Hoosiers check in at No. 13 in both the AP Poll and the APCA Coaches Poll this week after their dominant 56-7 victory over Nebraska. They moved up three spots in the AP Poll, and five spots in the Coaches Poll. Indiana is 7-0 for the first time since 1967, and could tie that team for the best start in program history this week. IU has now been ranked for four straight weeks. This is only the second season in the last 30 years when the Hoosiers have spent consecutive weeks in…

With Kurtis Rourke set to miss Indiana’s game against Washington, and perhaps more, Tayven Jackson is thrust into the spotlight. Jackson played quarterback for the entire second half on Saturday against Nebraska, after Rourke suffered a thumb injury late in the first half. The redshirt sophomore came in with a 28-7 lead, and took his first snap from inside the red zone after Shawn Asbury II’s 78-yard interception return. Indiana’s offense continued dominating despite the quarterback change, as Jackson handled business. The Center Grove alum completed seven of his eight pass attempts for 91 yards and two touchdowns, and he…

For the second time in program history, Indiana football will host ESPN College GameDay. The vaunted pregame show is coming to Bloomington next Saturday, October 26, ahead of Indiana’s game against Washington at noon. ESPN and IU shared the news on social media Sunday morning. The Hoosiers (7-0, 4-0 Big Ten) could enter the top 15 — or higher — in the AP Poll after a dominant 56-7 win over Nebraska. Washington (4-3, 2-2) has taken a predictable step back this season, but is still a tricky opponent coming off a national championship game appearance. The Hoosiers last hosted College…

BLOOMINGTON — Before even reaching the IU Athletics complex — the buzz around Bloomington just felt different on Saturday. Traffic around town was noticeably higher, as undefeated Indiana football prepared to take on Nebraska. The tailgate scene around the stadium was as vibrant and lively as ever. FOX’s Big Noon Kickoff show aired live outside the south side of the stadium, with a boisterous crowd bringing energy early on a cold, fall morning. IU football has plenty of devoted tailgaters and fans, even through its lean years. But that energy often never made it into Memorial Stadium — the party…

BLOOMINGTON — IU men’s and women’s basketball kicked off their seasons on Friday at Hoosier Hysteria at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall. The full rosters and staff for both teams were introduced to the crowd, followed by some on-court interviews, competitions, and eventually a short scrimmage with the men’s team. The annual pep rally gave fans their first look at the 2024-25 Hoosiers teams and pumped them up for the seasons ahead. Here are some notes and thoughts from the festivities. Team introductions Sharnecce Currie-Jelks walked out with her baby, which drew a nice hand. She missed nearly all of last…

With basketball season rapidly approaching, we’re going team-by-team in the Big Ten to assess where everyone stands and how things could shake out this year. UCLA’s 2023-24 season was defined by transition in multiple ways. Obviously, the Bruins moved from the Pac-12 to the Big Ten this year, but they also had to move on from a successful group of departed players after the 2022-23 season. And there were plenty of bumps, as UCLA finished 16-17, Mick Cronin’s first losing record with the program. But those struggles may have paved the way nicely for the Bruins this season. WHO’S GONE:…
