Indiana (1-0) is set to take on Idaho (0-1) Saturday at Memorial Stadium at 8 p.m. Idaho was originally an FCS program, before moving up to the FBS by joining the Big West Conference in 1996. The Vandals bounced around several conferences from there, and eventually returned to the FCS in 2018. The Vandals are coming off a 24-17 loss at Washington State, in Jason Eck’s first game as Idaho’s head coach. Eck was previously the offensive coordinator at South Dakota State, where he was named the 2019 America Football Coaches’ Association FCS Coach of the Year. He led the…

Going into IU’s opening night game against Illinois, offensive coordinator Walt Bell knew his team would have to throw the ball — a lot — to win. The Hoosiers knew the Fighting Illini were going to make life difficult for their offensive line. They anticipated Illinois stacking the box — that they would ensure a numbers advantage over the IU blockers. That would both make the run game difficult to jumpstart, and would put Connor Bazelak under frequent duress. And that’s how it played out. Indiana couldn’t get anything going on the ground for most of the game, rushing for just…
From Dasan McCullough’s first practice with Indiana football, Cam Jones knew. The veteran linebacker already knew McCullough from his recruitment and through his father, former IU running backs coach Deland. But until fall camp started, Jones hadn’t seen him actually suit up and play football. And that day, he quickly recognized what the Hoosiers had in this touted freshman. “He was pretty locked in and he was ready to go. You could tell he had a lot to get off his chest and off his shoulder,” Jones said. “Right from the first practice, you could tell he’s just an athlete.”…

Few made their presence felt as early and as often as wide receiver Cam Camper. The junior caught a 40-yard pass from Connor Bazelak on Indiana’s opening offensive possession, and was a focal point of Indiana’s offense all night. He received a team-high 18 targets, and finished with 11 receptions for 156 yards, tying several others for the 17th-most receptions in a game in program history. This was Camper’s first game at the FBS level, after…

Update: Early in the 2022-23 athletic year, Iman Tucker took over for DJ Gno for IU football and men’s basketball, on top of the women’s basketball games he was already doing.
