We are less than 45 days until IU football kicks off its 2022 season on Sept. 2 against Illinois. The forecasted balance of power in the Big Ten looks much the same as it has for years according to the gambling industry. Indiana football redshirt-senior Jack Tuttle has been nominated for the 2022 American Football Coaches Association (AFCA) Good Works Team, which honors 22 leaders and community champions from around college football’s five subdivisions. Tuttle was among the nominees for the Wuerffel Trophy in 2021 and has been a part of numerous initiatives in both the Bloomington area and around the country. He worked with the Red Cross this year on disaster relief and blood drives, while also donating plasma and blood himself. Indiana senior running back Shaun Shivers has been named a preseason candidate for the Doak Walker Award, the PwC SMU Athletic Forum announced on Wednesday (July 20). The Forum annually presents the award to the nation’s top college running back.A transfer from Auburn, Shivers joined the program for spring practice after appearing in 49 games with nine starts in four seasons on The Plains. The Fort Lauderdale, Florida, native enters his first season with the Hoosiers as a 1,000-yard rusher in his career with eight rushing scores. Two more IU baseball right-handers were selected on day three of the 2022 Major League Baseball Draft, and both are headed to the same organization. Bradley Brehmer was taken in the 12th round by the Baltimore Orioles on Tuesday, and Reese Sharp was a 20th round pick of the Orioles. Brehmer joins fellow rotation-mate Jack Perkins as selections in the 2022 draft and, along with Sharp’s selection, gives Indiana 11 pitchers drafted under head coach Jeff Mercer. Indiana Black Expo announced that it presented IU Head Basketball Coach Mike Woodson with the Excellence in Sports Award at the Pacers Sports and Entertainment Corporate Luncheon presented by Indiana University on Friday, July 15 at the Indiana Convention Center. He led the Hoosiers to the Big Ten Tournament semifinals for the first time since 2003 and helped three players earn All-Big Ten status including Trayce Jackson-Davis, Race Thompson and Xavier Johnson. The Big Ten Network is releasing condensed 10 to 15 minute cuts of Big Ten basketball games from the 2021-22 season, and we will share some of the more Indiana memorable wins. Next up was a victory of Notre Dame at the final Crossroads Classic in Indianapolis, and this particular version is a full length cut with all the commercials and stopped clocks eliminated. The Hoosiers held Notre Dame to 36 percent shooting from the field and forced 14 Irish turnovers.
