The field at the Indiana University-Pennsylvania stadium is named after IU football coach Curt Cignetti’s father Frank, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame. But in his second season leading that program, Curt kicked his father off the field named after him. The Ray Guy Award, which is awarded to the nation’s top collegiate punter, announced on Friday Indiana football senior James Evans as one of 34 preseason candidates for the award. The Augusta Sports Council announced its preseason watch list, which uses a broad spectrum of Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) punters and was compiled based on the 2023 award semifinalist, top-10 NCAA punters from 2023 and preseason and previous season all-conference and All-America teams. Via release, Indiana University Vice President and Director of Intercollegiate Athletics Scott Dolson announced today that IU Athletics will welcome six new members to its Athletics Hall of Fame. The six individuals comprise the 39th class, bringing the roster of inductees to 255. IU football fans will hear a familiar voice on the radio this fall. Buck Suhr will return to join legendary voice of the Hoosiers Don Fischer on the Indiana Sports Radio Network for another season as an analyst for Hoosier football broadcasts. Suhr returns to the booth after former IU letterwinner, NFL Network personality, and two-year color analyst Rhett Lewis will move into a broadcasting role with the Big Ten Network for the 2024 season.
