Via release, IU head coach Mike Woodson announced the addition of transfer Luke Goode (GOOD-ee) to the Indiana men’s basketball program on Tuesday. Goode, a two-time Big Ten Champion, joins Indiana after three seasons at Illinois. The 6-7 wing averaged 4.1 points, 2.6 rebounds, and 1.1 made 3-pointers per game on 38.8% shooting from behind the arc in three seasons playing for head coach Brad Underwood. Ballo, a two-time All-Pac-12 selection, arrives at Indiana after spending five seasons at Arizona and Gonzaga. The 7-0, 260-pound center averaged 11.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game in three seasons at Arizona. He shot 64.6% (466-of-721) from the floor and posted 34 double-doubles, third most in Arizona basketball history. Former IU football quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. is expected to be chosen in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft on Thursday. Penix spent four years at IU before transferring to Washington for his final two seasons of eligibility.  He led the Hoosiers to two of their best seasons in program history, but also suffered season-ending injuries all four years. Trayce Jackson-Davis’ first season in the NBA was a rousing success. After being selected 57th by Golden State in the 2023 NBA Draft, TJD averaged 7.9 points (on 70.2% shooting), 5.0 rebounds, 1.2 assists and 1.1 blocks per game as a rookie.  All of that production came in just 16.6 minutes per contest.  Jackson-Davis became a starter for the Warriors during the last quarter of the season. Carlyle, an All-Pac-12 Freshman Team performer, joins Indiana after one season at Stanford. The 6-3 guard averaged 11.5 points, 2.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists per game and shot 32.0% (32-of-100) from the 3-point line during his lone season with the Cardinal. Rice, a 2024 Kyle Macy National Freshman All-America Team honoree, arrives at Indiana after three seasons at Washington State. The 6-3, 180-pound guard averaged 14.8 points, 3.1 rebounds, 3.8 assists, and 1.6 steals per game while leading the Cougars to the program’s first NCAA Tournament berth in 16 years. For the fifth straight year, IU Athletics can claim overall superiority over Purdue.
