IU women’s basketball has announced its nonconference schedule for the 2024-25 season. The 11-game slate includes seven home dates and a trip to the Battle 4 Atlantis in November.  The Hoosiers will also make a trip up to Indianapolis for an away game. Head coach Teri Moren returns nine players from last year’s team including three starters — point guard Chloe Moore-McNeil, and wings Sydney Parrish and Yarden Garzon.  IU also welcomes two transfers and two true freshmen to the 2024-25 squad. Watch as IU football redshirt sophomore wide receiver Omar Cooper, Jr. met with the media on Wednesday after practice in Bloomington. In two seasons at IU, the Indianapolis native has appeared in 13 games, including nine games with two starts in 2023. Cooper caught 18 passes for 267 yards and two scores a season ago. Recognizing the top senior or upperclassman quarterback set to graduate with their class, the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Award has added senior quarterback Kurtis Rourke to its preseason watch list. The Golden Arm Award, presented annually to the top upperclassmen quarterback by the Johnny Unitas Golden Arm Educational Foundation, encapsulates all that is positive in college sports. The award acknowledges performance on the field for sure, but it goes beyond completion percentage and touchdown strikes. Watch as IU football wideout Donaven McCulley met with the media following practice on Wednesday. The 6-foot-5 senior was honorable mention All-Big Ten in 2023. Indiana linebacker Aiden Fisher is the latest Hoosier to be named to a preseason watch list. The 6-foot-1 and 233-pound Fisher is on the preseason Butkus Award watch list.  That honor goes to the nation’s best linebacker at the end of each season. The 40th annual collegiate Butkus Awar Preseason Watch List features 51 linebackers as a nod to the storied “51” pro jersey worn by the award’s namesake, the late Dick Butkus. As the world celebrates at the Paris 2024 Closing Ceremony, let’s look at what Indiana University’s 20 athletes and coaches accomplished at the Summer Games. Indiana has tied its second-largest group of Olympians all-time, having produced 20 Olympians in 1976 and a record 23 in 1968. Hoosiers represented nine different countries, marking a school record. The 1984 United States men’s Olympic basketball team will forever go down in history as the final amateur-level U.S. team to win an Olympic gold medal in men’s basketball.
