Former Indiana wide receiver and NFL Network broadcaster Rhett Lewis is stepping down from his color analyst post on IU football radio broadcasts after two seasons. Indiana has not yet announced a replacement to join legendary play-by-play man Don Fischer, who is set to enter his 52nd season on the microphone. This season Lewis will be an on-field reporter for the Big Ten Network, the network said in a release. The Indiana University Department of Intercollegiate Athletics announced via release its winners of the IU Athlete of the Year award for the 2023-24 school year on Wednesday, recognizing two athletes from the Indiana swimming and diving program. Juniors Carson Tyler and Anna Peplowski led the men’s and women’s programs to Big Ten Championships and combined for 10 All-America performances at the NCAA Championships. Both will represent Team USA at the 2024 Paris Olympics. Watch below a summer highlight reel of IU basketball class of 2025 recruiting target Malachi Moreno. The 7-foot Moreno is ranked No. 25 overall in the rising senior class, and the No. 1 center. On the final day of the 2024 MLB draft, two more Indiana players came off the board. Junior catcher Brock Tibbitts and sophomore right-handed pitcher Brayden Risedorph were the final members of IU’s roster to be selected. The pair of Hoosiers were taken in the 13th round (397th overall) by Toronto, and 20th round (602nd overall) by the Chicago Cubs, respectively on Tuesday afternoon. Following Nick Mitchell, Tibbitts was the second Hoosier to be picked by Toronto in this year’s draft while Risedorph is the first selection by the Cubs since shutdown reliever Scott Effross (2015).
