With appearances on two national player of the year watch lists, IU center Oumar Ballo headlines a wave of preseason recognition this week for IU basketball players. The 7-foot Ballo was named to the NABC Division I Player of the Year and Jersey Mike’s Naismith Trophy Men’s College Player of the Year on Wednesday afternoon. Ballo averaged 11.2 points, 7.7 rebounds, and 1.2 blocks per game in three seasons at Arizona. It is going to get rowdy inside Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall this year when an opponent misses their first free throw. IU Athletics announced Tuesday via release they have partnered with Finney Hospitality Group on a fun new in-game promotion for all regular season IU home men’s basketball games. It was a day to remember at Memorial Stadium, as Indiana moved to 8-0 and stayed in contention for both the Big Ten Championship game and the College Football Playoff. But the day started on the south lawn, as ESPN College GameDay set up shop for the first time ever.  The morning featured a homecoming for former IU football coach Lee Corso, and a celebrity guest picker appearance by former IU baseball and MLB star Kyle Schwarber.
