Listen below as former IU basketball great Ted Kitchel joined The Ride with JMV on Friday to discuss a number of topics. Kitchel was a member of three Big Ten Championship teams in 1980, 1981 and 1983.  He started in the 1981 National Championship game against North Carolina and was a first team All-Big Ten pick in 1982 and 1983. In a move seemingly motivated by concerns about gambling, the Big Ten Conference announced today it will debut a gameday student-athlete availability report for all football competition during the 2023 season. In addition to the conference-wide reporting, the Big Ten has partnered with U.S. Integrity (USI) to enhance monitoring efforts and provide additional educational resources to help prevent student-athletes, coaches, and staff from engaging in prohibited sports wagering. Jaylin Lucas is only 5-foot-9, and 170 pounds. And he doesn’t turn 19 until September. But the young man is carrying most of the weight of whatever optimism IU fans have going into the 2023 season on his shoulders. The 6-foot-8 Betsey visited IU in June and recently placed the Hoosiers in his list of final schools.
