Indiana center Kel’el Ware is listed was questionable on Saturday’s Big Ten availability report ahead of IU’s clash at No. 10 Illinois.
He appeared on the floor at State Farm Center in street clothes and will not play against the Fighting Illini.
Ware missed IU’s most recent game, last Friday at Wisconsin, with an ankle injury. He sat on the sideline wearing a walking boot on his right foot. Head coach Mike Woodson suggested during a media availability on Zoom that the sophomore was trending in the right direction ahead of Saturday’s contest in Champaign.
Ware also missed one game in late December when he battled an illness.
The Oregon transfer is Indiana’s leading rebounder this season, at 9.4 per game. He also leads IU with 1.6 blocks per game, and he’s second on the team with 14.2 points per game.
However, shortly before the availability report came out, Jeff Goodman reported that Ware is expected to miss Saturday’s game.
1:57 p.m. ET update: Ware has emerged wearing sweats at State Farm Center as Indiana warmed up pregame. He has shed the walking boot he wore in Wisconsin, but the center looks like he’ll miss a second consecutive game.
