Hatton started his career at William & Mary and then played the last two seasons at Bellarmine.
In his lone season at William & Mary, Hatton scored 4.4 points and pulled down 2.7 rebounds in 14.8 minutes per contest. As a sophomore at Bellarmine, he scored 3.5 points and added 2.3 rebounds in 12.9 minutes.
With a major role as a junior,, Hatton stood out nationally according to some analytical measures. His 2023-24 turnover rate was just 10.4%, good for No. 187 nationally. He also ranked nationally in the top-500 in defensive rebounding percentage (19.5%, No. 252), block rate (3.2%, No. 355), fouls called against per 40 minutes (2.3, No. 444), and offensive rebounding percentage (7.6%, No. 463).
Hatton will give IU much needed depth at the four and five spots, joining Oumar Ballo, Malik Reneau, and Mackenzie Mgbako in those roles.
Hatton has one year of eligibility remaining. He had received interest from other high majors, including Ohio State, Louisville, Clemson, and Minnesota.
