Four star in-state shooting guard Brandon Newman announced “top four” on Sunday via Twitter:

As always with such announcements, the verbiage is key. This is a top four, not a final four. Newman has been connected to other top programs including Kansas, and likely wants to keep his options open to new suitors.
In related news, Rivals is reporting that Newman is working on visiting IU “next weekend.” (Update: 247Sports is reporting ($) that this is an official visit).
Newman took an official visit to Purdue this weekend. Armaan Franklin also visited Purdue this weekend, and it is believed at least in some circles that the AAU teammates would not choose the same college due to their similar skill sets.
Another variable to consider as it relates to Newman may be the proximity of a school to his hometown of Valparaiso. He recently abandoned plans to transfer for his senior year of high school to Montverde Academy in Florida to stay home due to the health of his mother.
Newman is rated as the 101st player in the 2019 class nationally, and the 17th best shooting guard according to the 247Sports composite.
