Indiana ran Rutgers off its home court in February of 2018 to earn their sixth straight win over the Scarlet Knights.
But the RAC has been a nightmare since for the Hoosiers. Jersey Mike’s Arena, as it’s formally known, has the smallest capacity in the Big Ten, but has been a massive headache for Indiana.
No one on Indiana’s current roster has won in the building. Trayce Jackson-Davis never won there either.
Rutgers has rattled off four straight home wins over IU, and none of those games have been particularly close.
The recent story for Hoosiers in Piscataway, N.J. has followed a script: Rutgers is the more physical team, they outrebound IU, force turnovers, and the Hoosiers can’t make shots.
Like they really, really can’t make shots. Is there a breeze in this place?
Here are some numbers from Indiana’s last four trip to the Garden State to face the Scarlet Knights.
- Average score: Rutgers 65.5, Indiana 54.8
- Indiana shooting: 79-of-237, 33.3 percent
- IU average turnovers: 13.3
- IU average points per possession: .82
- Rutgers average rebound margin: +6.3
The reversal of fortunes for Rutgers has come since the hiring of head coach Steve Pikiell in 2o16. He owns an 8-4 mark against IU.
As a result of some dismal efforts at Rutgers lately, the Scarlet Knights own the second longest home winning streak over Indiana among Big Ten teams.
Here’s the complete list.
