Indiana has made up substantial ground since entering the mix for 2019 4-star guard Lester Quinones a few months ago.
When the New York native announced his “final seven” schools in February, the Hoosiers’ odds seemed slim, with at least one 247Sports recruiting analyst describing IU as a “very big longshot.”
An official visit to Bloomington last week seems to have helped the cause substantially, and now the Hoosiers appear to be in the final two for the talented shooting guard.
On an appearance today on 92.9 FM in Memphis, Quinones discussed the latest with his recruitment.
He indicated that while Michigan is not out of the picture, he is more focused on a primary four schools of Maryland, LSU, Memphis and Indiana. The 6-foot-5 Quinones was originally scheduled to take an official visit to Ann Arbor this weekend.
Quinones went on to say that he is presently leaning towards Memphis and Indiana.
Perhaps due to most of the questions during the interview having a Memphis angle for obvious reasons, Quinones appears to be quite enamored with the opportunity with the Tigers, who appear to be on track for a top 10 ranked 2019 recruiting class.
In fact, Corey Evans at Rivals believes that Quinones will commit to Memphis in just under two weeks.
Quinones plans to announce his decision in New York on May 10.
Archie Miller will apparently have at least one more opportunity to convince the highly coveted Quinones to come to Indiana. Alex Bozich of Inside the Hall is reporting the Miller will take an in-home visit with him later this week.
