Indiana lost its second quarterback in as many days.
Class of 2022 IU verbal pledge Josh Hoover announced on Monday he had a change of heart, just days before the early signing period. He posted the news on his Twitter page.
Just wanted to thank the entire Indiana program for the opportunity to be a Hoosier. After praying and talking with my family I have decided to go a different direction. Special Thank you to Coach Allen and the entire coaching staff. Wishing nothing but the best!

Hoover originally committed to Indiana in June. He is a 3-star recruit, the No. 539 overall player in the class of 2022, and the No. 33 quarterback according to the 247Sports Composite.
Indiana’s starting quarterback Michael Penix, Jr. announced on Sunday he was entering the transfer portal. The Hoosiers are now down to three scholarship quarterbacks — Jack Tuttle, Dexter Williams, and Donaven McCulley.
With new offensive coordinator Walt Bell set to be announced this week, IU could look for both a new quarterback out of the transfer portal as well possibly one in the class of 2022. There are currently 19 class of 2022 quarterbacks ranked in the 247Sports Composite top-100 at the position who are not committed, but just two in the top-50, and just one ranked higher than Hoover.
