Indiana will get a close look from a Penn State decommit this weekend.
Class of 2022 edge rusher Tyreese Fearbry confirmed with The Daily Hoosier he will be in Bloomington this weekend for an official visit.
According to the 247Sports Composite, Fearbry is a 4-star and the No. 182 overall recruit in the 2022 class, the No. 12 edge rusher, and the No. 5 prospect from Pennsylvania.
The 6-foot-5 Fearbry plays defensive end and wide receiver this season at Perry Traditional Academy in the Pittsburgh City League.
Before committing to Penn State, Fearbry had narrowed his options to Pitt, Auburn and Kentucky, with the in-state schools considered front-runners.
Somewhat of a late-bloomer, Fearbry didn’t start playing football for Perry until his sophomore year. His sudden rise on the recruiting scene seems to have led to a rushed decision to commit to Penn State on July 4. He reopened his recruitment just weeks later.
That Fearbry is coming to Bloomington is significant — because it is the last of his five available official visits. He previously made official visits to Auburn, Kentucky, Penn State and Pittsburgh in June and has been back to Pitt since decommitting.
Fearbry appears to be a good fit for Indiana’s bull position, an edge rusher in the 4-2-5 scheme who plays standing up at the defensive end spot. He had ten tackles for loss and five sacks in five games in 2020.
