After completing official visits to Michigan, Indiana and Ohio State over the last few weeks, five-star class of 2019 point guard D.J. Carton has surprised many with this announcement. Most analysts saw Indiana and Michigan in the lead with perhaps a slight edge to the Wolverines. The 247 Sports crystal ball had Carton 100% to Michigan before analysts starting changing their picks today.
Carton saw his profile accelerate significantly over the last year. He narrowed his list to six schools in the spring, and then reportedly had interest from blue blood suitors over the last couple months. Several reports indicated that Carton and his family were a bit overwhelmed by the process and were looking to accelerate the decision making process.
Indiana will continue its search for a 2019 point guard. In a bit of good news, a former target has reopened his recruitment. Florida’s Tre Mann made this announcment yesterday.

Mann had previously cut his list down to three and did not include IU. He performed well at the Peach Jam and may have piqued the interest of higher profile programs.
Other 2019 point guard targets include Anthony Harris, Armaan Franklin (combo), Jalen Lecque, Jahmius Ramsey (combo), Kira Lewis, Harlond Beverly, Samari Curtis (combo) and Rocket Watts.
