Indiana sophomore outfielder Grant Richardson was named first-team All-Big Ten on Sunday morning, one of four Indiana players named to one of the three All-Big Ten teams.
Right-handed pitchers McCade Brown and Gabe Bierman were both named to the second-team while third baseman Cole Barr earned third-team honors. Also, second baseman Paul Toetz, outfielder Morgan Colopy and pitcher John Modugno were all named to the Big Ten’s All-Freshman team. Catcher Collin Hopkins was named Indiana’s Sportsmanship Award honoree.
Heading into Sunday’s game, Richardson ranked 12th in the Big Ten in batting average (.326), fourth in hits (57), and 11th in RBIs (34). He homered seven times, hit 10 doubles, slugged .526 and posted a .407 on-base percentage.
Bierman finished third in the conference in earned run average at 2.68 and Brown was not far behind him, finishing eighth with a mark of 3.39. They each won five games, which put them in a tie for ninth in the conference. Brown was fifth in the league with 97 strikeouts and Bierman was 10th with 80.
Barr finished sixth in the league in RBis with 36, 12th in home runs with nine and 18th in slugging at .535. He hit .287.
