Monday is the first day college football players can formally enter the transfer portal, but already nine from Indiana have announced they intend to do just that when the window opens.
Already we’ve told you about the decisions by linebacker Dasan McCullough, quarterback Jack Tuttle, kicker Charles Campbell, tight end A.J. Barner and quarterback Connor Bazelak.
Here are five more now former IU football players who will be in the portal when it opens tomorrow.
Chris Keys (CB) appeared in ten games in 2022 with two starts. He had 15 tackles and a pass break up. After taking a redshirt season in 2020 as a freshman, he appeared in the first two games of 2021 season before he suffered a season-ending injury. Keys appeared to be on track to compete for a starting role in 2023.
Javon Swinton (WR) appeared in nine games as a reserve and caught 12 passes for 122 yards in 2022. For his career the Virginia product has caught 31 passes for 289 yards and a touchdown. He’s perhaps best known for making a pair of catches in his college debut in 2020 against Penn State.
Malachi Holt-Bennett (WR) appeared in 19 games over two years as a reserve and had seven receptions for 119 yards and a score. Holt-Bennett played as a true freshman last year, played more in 2022, and appeared to be trending in the right direction.
Lem Watley-Neeley (CB) played in 11 games in 2022 as a reserve cornerback after missing all of the 2021 season with an injury. He had nine tackles and a pass defensed. The Michigan product also appeared in two games in 2020.
Grant Gremel (QB) is a walk-on quarterback who started in 2021 against Purdue. The Noblesville, Ind. product appeared in four games in total last season and completed 32-of-58 passes for 269 yards with a touchdown and an interception.
The windows for college football players to formally enter the transfer portal are Dec. 5 to Jan. 18, and May 1 to May 15.
