After three years in Bloomington, Malik Reneau is headed home.
The 6-foot-9 forward/center announced Wednesday he’ll play his final season of college basketball back in his hometown of Miami, Fla. for the Miami Hurricanes.
There Reneau will play for new Miami head coach Jai Lucas.
“I’m coming home,” Reneau wrote on his X account. “It’s all about the U.”
Reneau started 19 of the 26 games he played in as a junior for the Hoosiers. He suffered a midseason knee injury.
He averaged a team-best 13.3 points per game to go along with 5.5 rebounds and 2.0 assists per outing. Reneau shot 55.2% (139-of-252) from the floor and 73.3% (66-of-90) from the free throw line.
In three seasons in Bloomington, Reneau scored 1,013 points. He played in 94 games with 55 starts.
He committed to IU in 2022 after decommitting from Florida. He decided to join high school teammate and friend Jalen Hood-Schifino at Indiana to play for Mike Woodson. He thanked Woodson a couple weeks ago when announcing his transfer.
“I want to thank Coach Woodson and his entire staff for giving me an opportunity to play at Indiana. I will miss the fans and all the great people in Bloomington,” he said in an Instagram post.
BANKS REUNITES WITH GUNN
In other former IU player news, Kaleb Banks will reunite with C.J. Gunn next season at DePaul. They’ll play for former Ohio State coach Chris Holtmann.
Banks played at Tulane last season and averaged 14.7 points and 6.7 rebounds per contest.
Both Banks and Gunn have one season remaining.
