Former Indiana forward Race Thompson will get a chance to compete with the New York Knicks this summer.
The IU basketball official Twitter account reported the news Thompson has signed a summer league deal with the NBA franchise.

Thompson had multiple workouts during the spring with NBA teams, including his hometown Minnesota Timberwolves.
Thompson, a six-year player for the Hoosiers, averaged 7.7 points, 5.5 rebounds, 1.0 assists, 0.9 steals, and 0.8 blocks per game across 130 appearances for IU. He started 91 of his final 92 contests. He shot 51.1% (340-of-744) from the floor and 64.6% (204-of-316) from the free throw line in his career.
New York is a franchise IU coach Mike Woodson knows well. He was the head coach there from 2011 to 2014, and was an assistant with the Knicks when he was hired by IU in 2021.
The Knicks open summer league play in Las Vegas on July 8. Their matchups are as follows:
- Saturday, July 8 at Philadelphia – 5:00PM ET on NBA TV
- Sunday, July 9 at Brooklyn – 5:30PM ET on NBA TV
- Wednesday, July 12 at Orlando – 8:00PM ET on ESPN2
- Friday, July 14 vs. Boston – 7:00PM ET on ESPN2
The team will also play a fifth game which will be scheduled at a later date.
