Former IU football cornerback Jamison Kelly has been charged in Mississippi with accessory after the fact to murder.
According to court documents, Kelly served as the getaway driver for Joshua Brown, 19, who is charged with murder in connection with the Oct. 15 shooting death of Jackson State student Jaylen Burns.
Kelly had not been with the IU program for several weeks prior to the incident, although he told a judge he was still a member of the team.
IU coach Tom Allen announced on Sept. 28 Kelly was no longer part of the program.
Allen did not provide a reason for the midseason departure.
A senior from Columbia, Miss., the 6-foot-1 and 195-pound Kelly was a participant in each of Indiana’s first four games this season. He was credited with one tackle in week two.
He was named one of the team’s special teams player of the week following that week two game vs. Indiana State.
Kelly transferred to IU in the spring. He started his career at Louisiana Tech , before the 2022 season took him to Jones College.
