Former West Virginia assistant coach Chester Frazier will not be following Darian DeVries to IU.
Frazier was announced as an assistant coach at Virginia Tech on Tuesday morning.
Frazier coached under DeVries at WVU for one season. They did not have a prior connection.
This move by Frazier could have recruiting implications for IU as DeVries rebuilds the roster.
Frazier was a former player and coach at Illinois. He brought two Illinois players with him to West Virginia a year ago — Sencire Harris and Amani Hansberry. They are both in the transfer portal.
Frazier is also thought to be the key assistant in the recruitment of former West Virginia 2025 high school signee Braydon Hawthorne.
DeVries has two confirmed assistants thus far. Nick Norton will be joining him from West Virginia, and Drew Adams is coming over from Cincinnati. Strength coach Ryan Horn is also joining DeVries from West Virginia.
