Coming off an appearance in the 2024 College Football Playoff, Indiana is seen as a longshot to win the 2025 national championship.
What are their chances for a Cig-Natty?
According to DK Sportsbook, the Hoosiers have +12000 national title odds or 120/1, meaning If you were to bet $10 you would receive $1,200 in profit if this outcome won. The implied win probability of +12000 odds is 0.83%.
DK lists 26 teams ahead of Indiana. They are listed with the same national title odds as Utah and Iowa State.
Several teams from the Big Ten have better odds to win it all: Ohio State, Oregon, Penn State, Michigan and USC.
The outlook is a bit rosier at FanDuel, which lists the Hoosiers at +10000 or 100/1, with 22 teams ahead of them. Meanwhile, Circa Sports says IU is +20000, or 200/1, with 24 teams ahead of them.
Indiana has three especially difficult road games in 2025 — at Iowa, at Oregon and at Penn State. They will almost certainly need to win at least one of those games while remaining perfect at home in order to make a return trip to the College Football Playoff. The home slate includes a Big Ten opener against an Illinois squad likely to be ranked.
The Hoosiers have kept themselves in the national conversation following a strong winter in the transfer portal that included the signing of highly coveted Cal quarterback Fernando Mendoza. Overall, 247Sports currently ranks IU as having the 18th best incoming transfer portal class for the 2025 season.
These odds will no doubt continue to move as teams continue to experience roster fluctuation via the transfer portal through the spring.
The Hoosiers host their free to the public spring game on April 19 at Noon ET. They open the 2025 season on Aug. 30 at home against Old Dominion.
