Headlining Indiana’s massive recruiting weekend that has already led to three commitments was 5-star class of 2025 quarterback Julian Lewis.
Lewis is the the No. 10 overall player in the rising senior class according to the On3 Industry Average, and the No. 2 quarterback. Indiana is competing with USC, Auburn and Colorado for the services of the Carrollton, Ga. product.
The first time Lewis visited IU it made a splash, the second this past weekend it opened some eyes to the possibility. Is yet a third visit possible? Yes.
Lewis has a specific weekend in mind.
“If I do go (back to Indiana) to a game it would be them vs Maryland,” Lewis told On3’s Steve Wiltfong.
That game is Sept. 28.
So how do his official visit to Indiana go? Lewis and his father spoke with national reporters from each of the main three recruiting sites.
“I had a great time,” Lewis told 247 Sports national reporter Anna Adams. “All of the coaches and players treated me like family. It’s real relaxed there.

“[Head] coach (Curt) Cignetti, [quarterbacks] coach Tino (Sunseri) and [offensive coordinator] coach (Mike) Shanahan all made it clear that I’m the guy they want to build around.”
Lewis told 247Sports national reporter Tom Loy that development, opportunity and relationships are driving his interest in IU. On the relationship front, Lewis talked to Loy about his connection with quarterbacks coach Tino Sunseri.
“He’s worked hard to get to where he is and he saw what I could be back when I was eight. It wasn’t about recruiting, it was genuine and just wanting me to be successful,” Lewis told Loy. “He always says he never knew how big I would get, so he told me to control what I could control. I’m proud of him and happy that he has this opportunity at Indiana.”
Lewis was accompanied by his family in Bloomington, of course. His father T.C. Lewis talked to Wiltfong more about the visit.
“Ju had a great time,” the elder Lewis told Wiltfong. “He really did.
“He really likes the town and family atmosphere among the team. He had a chance to spend a lot of time with the o-line. Obviously he sees what they’re trying to do and sees a real opportunity to do something different.
“From a dad’s perspective, one thing I can say, being around them and talking to the coaches there is no reason not to believe they don’t have a chance to win. Based on track record and the amount of support they have from the administration, they have a favorable schedule the next two seasons. They can be in the mix pretty quick.”
Rivals’ Adam Gorney had more from the 5-star’s father.
“Definitely had a good time in Indiana,” Lewis’ father told Gorney.
“Coach (Cignetti) and Indiana are committed to becoming a football school. There’s nothing going on around there that doesn’t make you believe they will win.”
Lewis now has three other official visits on deck this month. He’s headed to USC this weekend, with trips to Auburn (June 14) and Colorado (June 21) to follow.
