After averaging 20.9 points per game in 2007-08, Gordon was a unanimous first team All-Big Ten selection and Big Ten Freshman of the Year as selected by the media. He became the first freshman to average more than 20 points per game. His 669 points scored was an IU and Big Ten freshman record. Gordon was selected 7th overall in the 2008 NBA Draft.
