Former Indiana basketball great Ray Tolbert recently joined Harvey Harrington on the DreamChasers Podcast.
While leading the Hoosiers to their fourth National Championship in school history, Tolbert set the pace in rebounding (224), field goal percentage (.588) and blocks (35) in his 1981 Big Ten Player of the Year campaign.
Tolbert’s 428 points during his senior year placed him 18th on the all-time scoring list at IU with 1,427 points. He played in 127 games as a Hoosier, starting 123.
The 6-foot-9 Tolbert was Indiana’s 1981 team MVP. He was a first round selection in the 1981 NBA Draft and played five seasons in the league. Tolbert took home an NBA championship ring in connection with his time with the Lakers in 1988.
Tolbert is top-20 all-time at IU in points, rebounds and blocks. He was inducted into the IU Hall of Fame in 2011.
