The field at the Indiana University-Pennsylvania stadium is named after IU football coach Curt Cignetti’s father Frank, a member of the College Football Hall of Fame.
But in his second season leading that program, Curt kicked his father off the field named after him.
Why did he kick his Frank off the field?
“I just didn’t like the body language,” a belly-laughing Cignetti said in an interview at Big Ten Media Day with The Sports Life, hosted by longtime Michigan State radio voice Will Tieman.
Cignetti also goes in depth on his formula for having never experienced a losing season as head coach.
Indiana and Cignetti open the 2024 season on Aug. 31 at home against Florida International.
