Listen as former IU basketball player Randy Wittman joined Chad Hartman to discuss the life and legacy of Bob Knight. The legendary coach was close friends with Hartman’s father Sid Hartman.
Playing for Knight, Wittman won multiple Big Ten titles at IU and the 1981 national championship.
On his way to being named an All-American in 1983, Wittman took Indiana under his wing, helping the Hoosiers rout Purdue, Illinois, and Ohio State for yet another Big Ten Championship. Wittman shot .543 on the season and averaged a team-leading 18.9 points.
In his IU career, Wittman played an IU-record 4,699 minutes, including the full 40 minutes 45 times. He went on to a productive nine-year NBA career and spent many seasons as an NBA coach. He’s currently an advisor to Mike Woodson.
