While we wait for the Big Ten, the NFL got underway on time this weekend and IU was well represented with 11 former players with teams in various capacities.
Take a look at how they did with our quick weekly recap of the Hoosiers in the NFL.
Tevin Coleman (RB) – San Francisco 49ers
Coleman was questionable to play due to the air quality in California, but he ended up with 4 carries for 18 yards and 1 catch for 6 yards. He is in his sixth year in the NFL and second with San Francisco.
Dan Feeney (OL) – Los Angeles Chargers
Feeney started every game in 2018 and 2019, and he started once again for the Chargers in their season opening win over Cincinnati. He played center in the season opener, and by all accounts had a strong showing in the L.A. road win.
Jordan Howard (RB) – Miami Dolphins
Howard rushed 8 times for 7 yards in his first career start for Miami. He also scored a touchdown, the 33rd of his career as Miami came up short at New England.

Brandon Knight (OL) – Dallas Cowboys
Knight was active for Sunday night’s prime time game against the Rams.
Wes Martin (OL) – Washington
Martin started in Washington’s season opening win over Philadelphia. Now in his second year in the league, it was Martin’s sixth career start.
Rodger Saffold (OL) – Tennessee Titans
Now in year 11 in the NFL, Saffold started once again for the Titans. He is IU’s longest tenured active player in the NFL. Saffold appeared in his 131st career game and earned his 128th career start as Tennessee won on the road.
Jason Spriggs (OL) – Chicago Bears
Spriggs was active for his first career game with Chicago after spending four seasons with Green Bay.
Nate Sudfeld (QB) – Philadelphia Eagles
Sudfeld was dressed as the Eagles backup QB for their season opener in Washington.
Ian Thomas (TE) – Carolina Panthers
Thomas played in two thirds of Carolina’s offensive snaps but caught just two passes for 16 yards. He is in his third year at Carolina and expected to have a bigger role after the departure of Greg Olsen.
Nick Westbrook (WR) – Tennessee Titans
Westbrook was moved up to the 53-man roster from the practice squad on Monday. He was inactive for the Titans’ Monday night game against Denver.
Simon Stepaniak (OL) – Green Bay Packers
The Packers rookie is on the non football injury list for at least the first six weeks of the season as he continues to recover from knee surgery.
