Tuesday afternoon marked the deadline for NFL teams to cut their rosters down to 53 players.
It has been a rough few days for former Hoosiers, as several former IU stars didn’t make the cut.
The list of casualties includes all-time leading passer Nate Sudfeld, who was seeking a spot with a team for a ninth straight NFL season. Cut by Detroit, Sudfeld is a good candidate to land on a practice squad.
Here’s an overview of what transpired over the last few days as it relates to former Indiana players who were on training camp rosters competing for roster spots:
MADE NFL ROSTERS
The following former IU players made the cut and are expected to be on opening day 53-man rosters:
- Micah McFadden, LB, New York Giants
- Nick Westbrook-Ikhine, WR, Tennessee Titans
- Dan Feeney, OL, Minnesota Vikings
- Ian Thomas, TE, Carolina Panthers
- Cam Jones, LB, Kansas City Chiefs
- Peyton Hendershot, TE, Kansas City (The Dallas Cowboys are finalizing a trade sending Hendershot to the Chiefs for a late-round conditional pick, Tom Peliserro of the NFL Network reported.)
WAIVED
The following players were waived by the team noted, but could still end up with another team and/or on a practice squad:
- Aaron Casey, LB (Cincinnati)
- Andre Carter, DE (Cincinnati)
- Ryder Anderson, DE (New York Giants)
- Nate Sudfeld, QB (Detroit)
- Luke Haggard, OL, (Tampa Bay)
- Caleb Jones, OL, (Green Bay)
- Raheem Layne, S, (New York Giants)
- Marcelino McCrary-Ball, LB, (New York Jets)
- Jaylin Williams, CB, (Minnesota)
